尽管医学生的课业比较繁重，但她仍经常参加各种的志愿者活动。在大一下学期，当得知母校有两个学妹患上白血病时，身为学生干部的她发起了一场为两位学妹的募捐活动，并筹集到13000元的善款。
如今，透过曾经的泪水和汗水，未来的方向让林丽琴愈加明晰。因为她的自立自强，让她不仅获得校“自强之星”的称号，还获得了2014年度中国大学生自强之星提名奖、2014年度新东方自强奖学金。此外，她还代表学校贫困生，去北京大学参加贫困生发展“优才拓展”专项的交流活动。
