这则广告在社会上引起了很大的反响，许多城市的中学为此还发起了“为妈妈洗脚”的活动，并布置了以此为主题的作文。甚至，从广告播放至今，还有不少关于学生为自己的父母洗脚的新闻，这其中免不了有炒作或是哗众取宠的嫌疑。但是今年的重阳节，某个少数民族在过节这一天，有几十个少妇坐在一旁给自己的婆婆或是母亲洗脚以示感恩，给老人一个舒适的重阳节。
于是，我们不难发现，这则公益广告所引起的的传播效果是不可忽视的。从认知、态度、行为都得到了很好的传播效果。从沃尔特·李普曼的观点来看，“为妈妈洗脚”已经形成了一种“刻板模式”，成为大家模仿的对象。
公益广告是站在为大众服务，点醒大众的立场，是传达正确的有效的已被人们忽视的信息，可能是健康生命、环境、人与人之间的各种爱的传达。在审美上更注重于触发人类原始的情感和行为。在这则公益广告里，不管是广告语还是重复的三个洗脚的动作，都是在体现中华民族极为重视孝的观念。“妈妈洗脚”这句广告语就深刻揭示了这一点。在“妈妈洗脚”这句广告语中，传播了这样一种“孝”的理念。从古至今，中华民族直追求着“百行孝为先”，孝敬老人是中华民族的优良传统，而孝心的培养要从娃娃抓起，里面的两位母亲，一位慈祥可爱，一位贤惠孝顺，而里面的两个孩子，一个以身作则，一个懂事可爱，受母亲的影响，小小年纪就懂得孝敬父母。宣扬了中华民族的＂孝＂，呼吁现在的人们要常回家看看，关爱老人与儿童。所以这个广告一播出就容易受到受众的接受。这就到了它的传播的社会性和目的性。
在广告的最后，把广告主体模糊化，画面出现了“将爱心传递下去”。这句作为简明易懂的传播符号，以静态来表现动态的活动，以有限的字数去体现无限的现实活动，以抽象来表现具体的行为。所以说，这句广告语在一定程度上，达到了很好的传播效果。
在广告中，一些非语言符号也起到了重要的作用。母子之间的亲密互动，媳妇给婆婆洗脚时、婆婆脸上流露出放松的表情，孩子在端着水盆时艰难的样子，妈妈见到儿子端着水盆欣慰的表情，无一不体现了整则广告所要体现的传播宗旨——将爱心传递下去。总而言之，这是一部让人赞不绝口的公益广告片。
正如美国著名广告人罗宾斯基所说：“我坚信一流的感情才能组成一流的广告。所以，我们每次都刻意在广告作品中注入强烈的感情，让消费者看后忘不了，丢不开。”

Besides, as the advertisement can provide people with a lot of immediate and detailed information as to the availability of a certain product, or a service or a job, it makes life much more convenient. And another thing we mustn't forget: the fact that we pay so little for our daily newspapers and TV programs is due entirely to the money spent by advertisers.
