当下信息时代，“书信”几乎已经成为一个历史名词，只残留在很多人的箱底和记忆中了。尤其是对于年轻的一代人来说，新的信息沟通手段的使用使得“书信”成为了他们面对的一个非常陌生词语。但是，这种曾经在历史上沿用了几千的信息传播手段在不同的时代都起到了重要作用，尤其是那些在特定时代的很多书信，更是成为了历史的见证，深刻记录了很多人的内心和情感。
央视最新推出的大型人文艺术类节目《信中国》就是一档以过去年代的书信为载体的节目。这档节目主要是将过去一个世纪里的很多中国人的亲笔信件拿出来给观众展示、阅读，再通过对于写信人身份和写信时背景的了解让观众认知这封书信里所表达出的内涵，以小见大，通过这封书信来反映个人的内心和时代的变迁。
从这个意义上来说，《信中国》是一档有着深刻的社会教育意义的综艺节目，而这，也恰恰反映了当下主流综艺节目应该要有的一个趋势——那就是要负担一定的社会功能。近些年来，各大卫视各种综艺节目层出不穷，几乎每年都有几十档不同的综艺在播出。但是，在这些节目中，很多都是宣扬着一种“娱乐至死”的理念，以无底线的追求曝光明星隐私和无脑游戏，只追求收视率和娱乐效果，全然不顾忌视听传媒的社会责任感。而《信中国》这样的一档节目，主要就是以宣传特定时代的精神和信念为主，把观众带回到特定的历史岁月，感受写信人的真情实感，以及隐藏在书信背后的对于国家和人民的深切的感情。
毫无疑问，《信中国》是一档宣扬正能量、弘扬爱国主义精神的主旋律节目，但是，这并不代表节目不好看，不够出色。恰恰相反，这一档节目在制作上可以说是别具匠心，精彩纷呈。整档节目在技术上采用的潘多拉魔盒立体投影技术为每一封信都设计了独特空间，主持人和信使站在其间，给观众一种穿越时空的'奇妙感觉。整个舞台打造出 360度环形视觉，每一个视屏都是由 19台激光投影拼接完成，为观众营造了裸眼立体 3D的视觉效果，让观众能够完全沉浸在书信的时空里。而为了吸引更多的年轻观众，节目采用了邀请“信使”的方法，被邀请的“信使”大部分都是年轻人比较喜欢的知名演员。比如在第一期节目中就请到了杨烁、杨洋、蒋勤勤等为观众熟悉的青年演员来朗读书信，在吸引观众注意力的基础上，也使得节目内在的潜移默化的教育能力大大增强。

2018年，央视推出的大型人文艺术类节目《信中国》，由朱军做主持人和制作人，第一期选取了革命先辈黄继光、江姐的家书。
明星读信的节目的最初版，是一档英国的综艺，名为《Letter Live》（译为：见信如晤），规则很简单，就是让实力演员朗读旧信。这种将真实存在的，有着真实情感的旧信，由实力演员深情朗读的节目，在目前的屏幕文化下是很是动人。一个麦克风，一封信，一个人，就构成了这种节目的主要元素。
和之前的节目不同，《信中国》节目的设计，增加了读信的可看性。比如读信舞台的高科技的3D感觉，第一期节目里读黄继光战斗中所写的信件时舞台背景中的熊熊战火让人身临其境。读信人是目前当红、在年轻人中很有号召力的明星杨洋。黄继光的信件和黄继光母亲的信件一起读，增加了我们对英雄背景的了解，演员有张力的话语，制造出的冲突，也更增加了节目的可看性。
我有一个表姐夫，是四川中江县人，每次他介绍自己的时候，大家会一脸茫然，这时他就会说，就是英雄黄继光的故乡。老演员张少华读着黄继光妈妈的信，和英雄黄继光的信遥相呼应。她读的信里第一句话说，我们是四川中江县人，让我对信里活生生的这个人有了一种真实存在的感觉。后面信里提到黄继光童年遭封建地主欺凌，被逼给狗买棺材做道场，所以他才能珍惜解放后来之不易的好日子。这些真实的历史信件，给观众们提供了一个多角度理解英雄行为的机会。
将存在历史长河里快被淹没的信件，在电视综艺里播出，是一种历史人物的真人秀。在各大卫视真人秀节目泛滥的时候，央视推出的《信中国》，以信为载体，集中地、艺术地展现近百年的书信，让我们看到了活生生的英雄们。江姐为国捐躯，死而后已，却在信件里为被人收养的儿子的学费在考虑，信里说，孩子由幺姐来带，就省下一笔费用；朱老总率领千军万马，两袖清风，为了两位母亲的生活向好友借贷；更加让我们到了他们的大公无私，他们也是活生生的人，舍小家，顾大家。
《信中国》用书信打开了历史，带领观众走进当年的场景中，让我们感受到了他们的人生故事和精神情怀。在中年危机、佛系成为网络热词的今天，我们能感受到他们人到中年的窘境，为了民族的振兴，为了人民群众能过上好日子，他们义无反顾的选择了自己要走的道路。这些事迹在今天对我们也有很强的现实意义和教育意义。
央视的号召力，选到了很多当红明星读信，在前期的宣传中，看到很多小鲜肉的身影。而播出的节目中，《信中国》里信件的选择，偏向先烈的书信，在“娱乐至上”的氛围中，参加《信中国》录制的明星们用自己的影响力，来弘扬先辈的精神，让《信中国》成为综艺节目的一股清流。
在各种综艺节目充斥的荧屏上，央视的文化类综艺口碑一直很好，《中国诗词大会》《中国成语大会》等等，都有不俗的口碑。相信《信中国》可以保持央视文化类节目的水准，开启书信的时光隧道，把观众带回到历史时空，体味当年写信人的真心真情。
