微波荡漾，将金光搅拌，变成无数颗明星，把人的眼睛都看花了。湖水碧绿碧绿的,想一块无暇的翡翠,光彩夺目.而天空呢,是渗蓝的.遥望远方,大概湖水也被天空所感染，越变越蓝，最后终于在天边与蓝天相接。看到这情景，我才领略到“秋水共长天一色”的妙处。想湖的南面望去，可谓“绿水逶迤，方草长堤”。近处有堤坝，草地；再远一点是深绿的树木，盛开的菊花和小山丘；更远处便是隐约可见的山峰轮廓和武汉钢铁公司高大的烟囱、楼房。这一切好象都沉浸于柔和，蔚蓝的大气之中，就连我所以的岸北的花、草、树木也不例外。秋风吹拂，湖面泛起一道道小波纹，轻轻抚摸着岸边，哗啦啦，哗啦啦，然后，又依依不舍地慢慢退去，把湖岸冲湿，冲绿，冲刷得越来越美丽``````所以这些，让人觉的整个世界仿佛都在动，没有一丝完整的线条，没有一片完整的色彩，更没有一个同样的瞬间。不过，湖边的一切毕竟还是美丽的，显得宁静、柔和。
然而，东湖并不老师那么温顺。它是一个变幻莫测的孩子，时而发怒。一排排大浪打来，滚动着，跳跃着，咆哮着，从远处看，恰似后一浪头张开大嘴，露出皓齿，将前面的浪头一口咬住，死死不放，然后像脱缰的野马，飞快地向岸边奔去。“哗 ``````”，浪花撞击着堤岸，浪花四溅，喷出无数水花，撒在岸边，又立即悄悄钻入泥土，只留下润湿的足迹。看看这壮丽的情景，我不得不为之惊叹，“阴风怒号，浊浪排空“的'诗句不禁脱口而出。
大浪过后，水面平静，这时的东湖又像一个温顺、听话的小姑娘。这是湖水最清、最绿的时刻。湖底圆圆的鹅卵石显现在人的眼前，连在水中的游动的鱼儿也看得一清二楚。湖边，绚丽多彩的菊花和一些不知名的野花盛开在山丘上，与还未落叶的、碧绿的梧桐树相映衬，好像给山丘披上一件花衣。湖水发怒的时的可怕情景，恐怕早已被这些花草树木抛到了九霄云外。湖面上，有几只渔船在打捞水草，几位“不速之客”——皮划艇运动员正划着皮艇，非快前进，激起一道水纹，扩散出一层层波澜。而在快艇的身后，只留下一条白色玉带。
这一切，我不禁想到，啊！湖水，你是多么美丽、宽广！你贡献给人们丰富的湖产和广阔的运动田地。我爱东湖！

“胭脂洗出秋阶影，冰雪招来露砌魂”一联，前句以洗尽胭脂，极言其自然本色之美，后句以晶莹剔透的冰雪，喻其冰消玉洁之魂。倒装句式的运用，显得新颖别致： “洗”“招’二字，运用拟人手法，生动地传达出白海棠的情韵神态;而“秋阶”“露砌”的映衬，更是意味深长。诗人含蓄地表现了白海棠朴素淡雅、清洁自励的品性。
