Founder of Labor Day
More than 100 years after the first Labor Day observance， there is still some doubt as to who first proposed the holiday for workers.
Some records show that Peter J. McGuire， general secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and a cofounder of the American Federation of Labor， was first in suggesting a day to honor those "who from rude nature have delved and carved all the grandeur we behold."
But Peter McGuire"s place in Labor Day history has not gone unchallenged. Many believe that Matthew Maguire， a machinist， not Peter McGuire， founded the holiday. Recent research seems to support the contention that Matthew Maguire， later the secretary of Local 344 of the International Association of Machinists in Paterson， N.J， proposed the holiday in 1882 while serving as secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York. What is clear is that the Central Labor Union adopted a Labor Day proposal and appointed a committee to plan a demonstration and picnic.

我们步入馆中，第一层楼分左、中、右三个大厅。我们首先参观中间的古动物陈列室。一进门，引入眼帘的就是一具巨大的古动物骨骼模型。据讲解员介绍，这是一具恐龙骨架——马门溪龙。大厅的四周还有很多古生物的化石，有鱼龙化石，及很多其他的恐龙化石，有的'玻璃展示台里还陈列着琥珀，真是漂亮。
我又随着大部队走到了左边的展厅，这里是海洋生物的世界，各种各样的螃蟹、叫不出名字的小鱼，还有海蛇，扬子鳄、海龟等……
我又怀着好奇心，走到了动物陈列室（2），那里是动物的天堂，兽类中有长着犄角的牦牛，黑白相间的大熊猫，还有机灵的猴子，美丽的孔雀。我还特别看了雪豹的标本，这雪豹真帅，全身乳白色的绒毛，上面缠着一圈圈的花斑，长长的有力的尾巴，尖利的牙齿，真享有“雪域霸主”的美称啊。
我还其他参观了很多展厅，看到了以前我没有看到的东西。
