每读泰戈尔这首诗后，胸中总会涌动着一股力量，把这股力量凝聚成坚韧的毅力，去面对人生旅途中的逆境，这样，心便不会在逆境中沉沦。每个人都有同样的一个人生，不同的是人生路上的经历，有的坦途长一点，有的崎岖多一些。但无论在坦途中遇到困境，或在崎岖中受到煎熬，只要对自己有信心，使用自己的力量走出困境、征服痛苦，人生旅途会变得明朗开阔，心情也会变得畅顺怡然。
生命仅有一次，为了让这一次的生命活得光彩，心会生出许多***，这些***驱使我们上战场；与大自然交战，与各种社会关系交战，战胜者头上多了一个光环，战败者脚下多了一步。不要在战胜后过度的沉醉在喜悦中而迷失了自己的本性，也不要在战败后丧失了自己的信心。
如果说人的一生都是为了功名利禄而忙碌着，那么心也就被包围在情欲、物欲之中。俗语说：人生不如意事常有七八九，既然人生有七八九的不如意，那么心在历程中也自然要经受七八九的苦。不要在遇到痛苦时，只顾着去恨天怨人，或去怨叹命运不公平，而忘了试着去发拙心的力量来征服痛苦。泰戈尔这首诗中说；“让我不乞求我的痛苦会静止，但求我的心能够征服它。”因为把希求寄托在别的东西上，是靠不住的，不如发挥自己的力量来保护自己的心灵，把心灵的.支配权让自己来掌握，才能支配自己的命运，当人生走到逆境时，你的心就会发挥力量来帮你征服痛苦，帮你勇敢地走过那段艰险的路程。当你被家事、人事的烦恼缠绕着，或在事业上遇到难关，使你忧虑万分。也许你会去找人诉苦，把烦恼感染给别人，祈求能遇上贵人来帮你解除忧虑，但忧虑、烦恼却仍然不离开你，或许你会去借酒消烦，但酒醒之后忧虑依然锁住你的身心，让你浮燥得去找人吵架，结果吵出更大的烦恼出来。
泰戈尔在诗中说“让我在生命的战场上不盼望同盟，而使用我自己的力量；让我不在忧虑的恐怖中渴念被救，但希望用坚韧来获得我的自由。”如果你能用坚韧的毅力先去承担烦恼面对不幸，然后从心中发拙力量来驱逐烦恼解决问题。使用自己的力量征服痛苦，用坚韧把自己从忧虑中拯救出来。忧虑被驱逐了，痛苦被征服了，人生也便常有七八九的快乐了。
