看到这本书的封面就深深地被吸引了，不仅仅因为“常青藤”，“哈佛”的光环，更是因为“20年经典读物”，因为时间才能真正的检验真理。
本书不同于其他写作书籍：除了20条写作干货以外，在书末，每条原则都有对应练习和参考答案。写作本就是一项技能，练习>理论，所以才说这本书不失为一本写作经典好书。
这本书非常适合用作写作入门书籍或工具用书。刚开始学习的时候可以通篇学习，之后当写作时遇到门槛或问题了，可随时翻阅查看。本书脉络非常清晰，作者的理论部分分别从结构、风格、可读性这三个基本层面阐述了，写作应该遵循的20条基本原则。
首先是结构，结构是关乎文章组织以及表述观点的顺序，有了正确的结构，文章就会给人很清晰的感受。
例如，总——分，分——总还是总——分——总。最重要的观点，次重要的观点，应该按什么顺序进行放置，这些都必须根据不同文体而定。
作者在第一部分，提到的第一个原则，就是运用“自上而下”的原则，在写说明文，议论文，论文，商业文章时都可以应用这种原则——先写总结，开门见山。然后再把表达的观点拆分成功2到4个观点，以最重要，次重要，次重要，最不重要的顺序去排列。这是因为人们在看文章时，注意力会随着时间的增加而不断减少，所以这种方式能够让大家最高效的接受作者想表达的内容。
其实，这种方式不仅仅可以应用于写作，更可以运用到平时的速度当中。“先找文章开头的总结句——再找分解的观点，然后从上至下阅读”，便可提高阅读效率。
其次是风格，风格是写作方式，包括如何使用恰当的例证支撑所写的内容，
有了风格，文章就会显得充实，丰满，让人非常容易理解。举个例子，
1.雪下的特别大。
2.下雪了，一片片雪花从天上飘落下来，一会儿，山头白了，房子白了，窗外的\'一切都白了。
这两句话，同样是描写雪大，但是后面这句添上风格，大家可以感受一下有什么不同？
最后是可读性，这一点教我们如何对文章进行正确的排版。
让读者获得愉悦的阅读体验，在有限的时间里获得最有效的信息，并愿意继续读下去。例如作者所说的尽量增大周围边框和黑体字就可以让阅读视感更佳轻松。
本文只是给大家展示了书中两三个原则，其余的原则还等着大家自己去联系和掌握。总之，本书内容非常丰富，不仅适合写作入门级爱好者，也适合于广大的高中初中的同学作为写作的提高资料。
