半截蜡烛续写
听着德国军官的脚步渐渐远去的声音，伯诺德夫人那紧张的心终于平静了下来，大儿子也长长地舒了一口气，他对着楼上杰奎琳的房间大声叫道：“妹妹你睡了吗？”杰奎琳听到哥哥的声音，急忙从床上跳了起来，走到楼梯口，轻轻的说：“哥哥，我还没睡，德国军官走了吗？”杰克笑着说：“别担心了，他们都走了，快下来吧！”杰奎琳听到这个喜讯，高兴极了，急忙从楼梯上飞奔下来，一下子扑到妈妈的怀里。
一场灾难过去，一家三口的心情都放松了许多。杰克对妹妹说：“妹妹你刚才真是太勇敢了，娇声得借上楼睡觉为理由，把德国军骗过了，成功保护了秘密情报，保全了情报站，同时也救了我们一家三口的命。”：“是啊，哥哥，但我也是看你和妈妈的表现，才想出这个办法的，没想到真的骗过他们了，这都是你和妈妈的功劳。”杰奎琳谦虚的说。伯诺德夫人微笑着，慈爱的抚摸着他们的头，说：“你们刚才表现的非常机智勇敢，功劳应该属于你们两个，你们都是祖国的英雄。”
这时，杰奎琳担忧的说：“现在，秘密情报放在蜡烛里，已经不是好办法了，那几个德国军官迟早会怀疑的。”伯诺德夫人听了杰奎琳的话，觉得很有道理，说：“我们一起想想，把秘密情报放哪。”一家都在沉思中，这时，杰奎琳看了看墙上，说：“我们把墙上的钉子换成金属管好吗？”伯诺德夫人听了，采取这个方法。
夜已深，母子三人都回房睡觉了。
