它们将火箭、宇宙飞船和飞机的技术有机结合在一起，能像火箭那样垂直发射，像飞船一样变轨，像飞机一样水平着陆，至少可以重复使用一百次，与一次性使用的火箭相比，它们的经济性和在其它方面都优点都是极具吸引力的。
而世界上第一架航天飞机是由美国研制的哥伦比亚号，它包括3个主要部分，轨道器，助推火箭和推进器外储箱，总长度56米，起飞容量达2000吨，轨道器可以载人和有效载荷，后段有3台使用液体燃料的发动机。经过4次试飞后，1982年11月载着宇航员将两颗卫星发射到地球同步轨道上，从而开创了空间商业性运输的时代。

The highest speed of it is 15 to 20 kilometres per hour.It is safe for people to ride it when they go to work, and the price is not very high. Also , there are manyproblems with them. For example, the batteries must be replacedafter having been used for 300 to 400 times. If they are not changed in time, they would cause pollution again.
