the radius of the earth is about 6,370 kilometres. it takes the earth 24 hours to rotate once. objects on the earths equator move with the earth at a speed of 460 metres per second, and the air close to the earths surface turns at the same speed. if the earth stopped rotating suddenly, the air would keep flowing eastward at a speed of 460 metres per second. the wind would be fourteen times as powerful as a hurricane. at the same time sea water would rush eastward at a speed of several hundred metres per second, which might do damages much greater than a seaquake would do. obviously, men could hardly stand such a catastrophe.
even if such a catastrophe would not happen, there would be a great temperature difference on the two hemispheres of the earth, and the four seasons of the year would no longer occur because a day and a night would be as long as a whole year instead of 24 hours. all this would greatly affect the life of human beings, imals and plants and that would cause worse results than anything imaginable.

朋友，你知道文明是什么吗?让我来告诉你吧，文明是一种令人朴实高尚的品质，是一种倍感亲切的修养，是一种受人尊敬并被大家广泛推崇的行为。它就像一面大公无私的镜子，无时无刻不展现一个人、一个国家的行为。
我们生活中有哪些不文明行为呢?如：随处抛丢垃圾、废弃物，随地吐痰、吐口香糖，污染公共环境，上厕所不冲水，危害他人健康。
在公共场所高声接打电话、猜拳行令、喧哗吵闹，影响他人生活;在公共设施上乱刻乱划，踩踏禁行绿地，攀爬摘折花木，破坏公物;在他人面前袒胸敞怀，大庭广众之下脱去鞋袜，把裤腿卷到膝盖以上、跷“二郎腿”，酒足饭饱后毫不掩饰地剔牙，衣冠不整;说话脏字连篇，举止粗鲁专横，遇到纠纷或不顺心的事大发脾气，恶语相向，缺乏基本社交修养。
行车方面：与行人争道;雨中不减速，污水溅行人;驾车急停拐，停车不靠边;前方有堵塞，插队往前挤;变道和拐弯，不开转向灯;向外扔杂物，开车打手机;夜间行车时，远光灯晃眼;频繁变更道，车流中乱钻;随意按喇叭，扰民没商量。等等以上这些陋习是我们可以随时注意稍加留意就可以避免的，只要我们愿意，我们一定可以告别不文明行为。
为了让我们的城市更美丽，为了让地球母亲更美丽，为了让每个人的言行举止更文明，让我们一起行动起来，从小事做起，从自己做起，从一点一滴改起，多一点文明，少一点随意，做到讲文明、懂礼貌，做文明人、做文明事，告别各种不文明的行为。

我们是新时代的小学生，是未来科技发展的接班人，所以，我们要从小做起，养成良好的学习习惯和文明做人的好习惯。其中养成良好的品德习惯更为重要，因为良好品德是中华民族一种历史悠久的传统美德。我们要让这种美德继承下去，就要从小学会做人，例行小学生日常行为规范上的每一条规定。其中有一条这样说道：
尊敬师长，见面行礼，主动问好，要用尊称，不直呼姓名。
每天在学校里，我们会见到非常多的老师，有教语文的`，有教数学的，有教科学的，还有教音乐的……我们不可能把每个老师的姓都叫上来，这时候，我们便可以礼貌的说一句：“老师好!”这句话，包含了我们对老师的尊重，也代表了同学们感谢老师传授给我们知识。当老师听到这满含深情的一句话时，心情将是怎样的激动啊!
小学生守则上最后一条说：诚实勇敢，不说谎话，有错就改。短短的十二个字，写出了中华美德的骨干中心，而我，也有过亲身经历。记得那是在我四五岁的时候。有一天晚上，爸爸给我做好了饭，而我又想出去玩儿，爸爸让我喝完一碗稀饭，吃完一个煮鸡蛋再下去玩。稀饭喝完了，还要吃一个鸡蛋，但到底是吃呢，还是不吃呢?我开始疑虑起来，这时，我仿佛听见了小伙伴在楼底下叫我去玩，于是，我心急火燎的吃了几口鸡蛋，放到了铁锅的后面，跟爸爸说我吃完了，然后就出去玩了。回来以后，我看到爸爸阴沉着脸，便知道我又犯错误了，便耷拉下头，等着挨批。过了一会儿，爸爸问我：“你吃完饭了吗?”我心里猛地一惊，呀，坏了，让爸爸给发现了。“世界上最可恶的是撒谎，撒谎甚至比偷东西还恶劣，小时候撒谎，到社会上还撒谎，你的未来就没有立足的余地了!”爸爸的一番话使我为之一振，于是我下定决心改掉这个坏毛病。
中华美德是无穷无尽的，我们要从小学开始，一步一个脚印，成为遵纪守法的好少年!
