位于贵州省镇宁县布依族自治县境内的百水河上的黄果树大瀑布，被称为中国第一大瀑布。
刚刚走进黄果树景区，就听见了“哗哗”的声音从远处飘来，渐近渐响，最后想潮水般涌上来。走近大瀑布，这轰鸣声盖过了人的喧嚣声。

中国第一大瀑布为什么要命名为“黄果树大瀑布”呢?原来是因为瀑布区右岸有一颗参天大树，名叫“黄角树”。当地的发音，“角”与“果”同音，而且本地盛产黄果(广柑，久而久之。“黄角树”就喊成了“黄果树”。
如今，黄果树瀑布群(19个瀑布越来越被世人所珍爱，它是贵州的一颗明珠。
