兔王总觉得自己这个大王当得没人家的大王神气。瞧虎王、狮王、狼王，威风凛凛，或率领部下出击，或接受臣民仰拜。而自己呢，没什么王气，只会带着部下逃避灾难，天天生活在惊恐之中。
兔王决定改变自己的形象，当个名副其实的大王。
他把几位善谋的大臣召来，给他出主意。
“是不是生理上的关系?我建议大王找位医生看看。”一位大臣说。
兔王认为有道理，自己从小就胆小，大概和身体上的什么毛病有关系。他决定去找医生。
兔王的山寨离医院很近，可他足足走了两个月才走到。他一听到风吹草动就要停下来，心惊胆战地判断着身边有无潜伏的危机。兔王的耳朵长，能听到几十里以外的声音。
总算来到医院了。
“看什么科?”挂号窗口里问话。
“看……”兔王也不知道应该看哪个科。
“什么病?”窗口里又问。
“胆小……没有王气……”兔王面红耳赤。
“看心理科。”窗口里递给兔王一张挂号条。
心理科的医生是位小伙子，他笑容满面地接待了兔王。当他得知面前的这只兔子是全世界兔子的大王时，惊讶极了。
医生全面询问了兔王的症状，还给他做了心电图。
忽然，兔王紧张起来，他的两只耳朵竖得笔直，眼睛里露出恐惧的神色。
“你怎么啦?”医生不安地问。
“我听见有狼叫。”兔王浑身打哆嗦。
“狼叫?我怎么没听见。”医生觉得好笑。
兔王的确听见狼叫了，是在几十里之外。
医生突然明白了，兔王的病根是在耳朵上。
“我建议你把耳朵卖了。”医生说。
“你说什么，卖耳朵?”兔王头一次怀疑自己听错了。
