One day, Paula and Richard decided to make a kite.
First they went out and found two straight sticks of the same length. They brought them back home and tied them with a piece of string into the shape of a cross. Then they took some string and used it to tie the four ends of the sticks together. Then, they spread some brightly coloured paper over the frame and glued it around the string.They stuck a tail made of paper to one of the corners, and tied a long string to the centre of the kite.
On the next windy day, they took the kite to a hill near their house and flew it.

首先，他们出门找了两根一样长的直木棍。他们把木棍带回家，用一根绳子把它们绑成十字形。然后他们又拿了些绳子，把木棍的四个顶端连在一起。然后，他们把一些颜色鲜艳的纸涂上胶水，粘在风筝的框架上。他们将纸做的尾巴粘在一角，在风筝中间系上一根长绳。

就在这时，一只小野猪出来觅食。他看见了小土豆，两眼放光，惊喜地说：“哇！多么饱满的土豆，一定很好吃！”说着，小野猪就把小土豆拿了起来。小土豆赶紧一跳，撞到了小野猪的鼻子，小野猪揉了揉鼻子，又抓起小土豆往嘴里送。小土豆眼见逃不了了，只好可怜兮兮地对小野猪说：“小野猪，你先不要吃我好吗？你可以把我种到泥土里，这样明年你就能吃到更多的土豆了。但在这之前，你能帮我完成一个愿望吗？我第一次看到这个世界，你能带我去看一看吗？”小野猪欣然同意。
于是小野猪就带着小土豆一起游泳、一起爬山、一起去看绿油油的大树，红艳艳的花儿，湛蓝湛蓝的天空，雪白雪白的云朵，一起去沐浴阳光、感受雨露……小野猪忘记了要吃小土豆，两个人也渐渐成了好朋友。
可是，一段时间之后，小土豆却慢慢干瘪了，小野猪很难受。小土豆说：“小野猪，你把我种下吧，这样，明年你就能再看见我了，我们又能一起去看大自然了。”小野猪这才恋恋不舍地把小土豆种在泥土里，他每天浇水施肥，盼望着能早日再见到小土豆……

从前有一颗成天滚来滚去的小土豆，每天要做的事仿佛就是从这滚到那儿，从那儿滚到这。不过它有一个伟大的梦想——变成一个美丽的车轮，为人们做出贡献。土豆每天都过着平凡的生活，但它还是开开心心地过每一天！
可是今天发生了一件离奇的事儿。
早上，小土豆滚到了一片美丽的魔法森林里。“这里可真是世外桃源啊！”土豆喃喃道。
突然就在小土豆陶醉在这美丽的森林里时，大树的树叶上掉下来一滴露水滴在小土豆的脑袋上。小土豆马上感觉身体膨胀了起来！它低头一看，“呀！我真的变成了一个车轮！”土豆高兴坏了。它又滚动了起来，小土豆发现变成车轮的它滚动得飞快！它觉得自己现在该去为他人做出一些贡献了。
于是它来到了小熊家，它想做一个哑铃给小熊，忽然在它眼前冒出了一个千斤重的哑铃，然后它高兴地离开了，并且在心里暗暗骄傲，它有魔法呢！
不一会小熊看见了哑铃大叫一声：“呀！老天有眼啊！竟然知道我喜欢举重！”
土豆又来到了修车人的旁边，只见他正急着要轮子呢！于是小土豆默念：“分身术！”只听“嗖嗖”十几个轮子在修车人旁边叠起来。修车人看到后也和小熊一样大叫一声：“呀！老天有眼啊！竟然知道我缺轮子！”小土豆又暗暗高兴人们都把它叫成了“老天”。
小土豆又来到了小松鼠旁边，只见它的眼镜模模糊糊的，看都看不清前方的路坑坑洼洼，差点儿掉河里。好不容易到了家门口，小松鼠又发现门钥匙没带。小土豆可不会袖手旁观，它念道：“阿拉霍洞开！”门一下子弹开了，小松鼠一头栽进了家里说道：“原来门是开的！”就睡着了。小土豆自豪它连咒语都会。
小土豆就这样帮了一个人又帮一个人，慢慢地它变老了，它躺在山坡上晒着太阳，它心里高兴它变成了车轮！它心里高兴它帮助了那么多人，它心里高兴它完成了梦想……
其实不管它老不老，它永远是那位做好事不留名的土豆先生。

these young people are wrong. in my opinion every student should have a knowledge of housework. after all, they will have a family of their own, and they should do their part in keeping a good home. boys should also learn to do housework, for what will they do if they remain single? though not all boys remain single, yet they will be very helpful in the family if they know some housework. anyhow they will not lose anything, but, on the contrary, they will gain something useful.
for what i said above, we can find some eamples of our fellow-students studying abroad. all young men do housework as girls do. someone would argue that we can employ servants. this is true. however, what shall we do if the servant leaves us and all things are left to ourselves? we just cannot leave our clothes as they are and let worms and ants eat them up. and what can we do it we go and study in a foreign country where servants are out our means to employ? we must work for ourselves. why not start to learn to do housework now or else it will be too late? everyone should learn to do housework. what do you think about my idea, boys and girls?
