When you look back on yourself in the past – 10, 20, 30 or more years ago – it’s surprising to see how much you have changed over time. Your experiences, your friends, your family and your work have all shaped who you are right now. But where will you be in another few years? How will you have changed? Reflective writing in your journal is an excellent way to think about what you want out of the future.

The letter gives you a macro-view of your initial vision and lets you recognize how your current vision differs from the past.

清晨的阳光总是暖和的，世间的一切都是美好的。这是四岁的我眼中世界的'概念。每当放假，我都会来到外公，外婆的家——宝山。清晨？九点？十点？我每天睡到自然醒，被子好似被月光洒了一晚，散发着好闻的香味。不管何时起来，总会看见硕大的桌子中摆放的温馨桌子上丰盛的早餐正冒着热气，半碗粥喝下去就饱了。我对迎接新的一天而感到兴奋。
坐在小椅子上，手里的木头铅笔随着我的手摆动。一会儿把铅笔指向床头边的娃娃，对她“施咒”，一会儿又伏在桌上，在洁白的纸上画上几条波浪线，模仿大人写字。虽然是寒冷的冬天，阳光总是会窜过纱帘，照耀在我的小木桌，小木椅和我的身上。在这里，我好似远远地离开了喧哗的城市。说真的，窗户外面，真的有几只陪伴我的小鸟，唱着大自然的歌。
消毒水的味道真的很好闻。拉着外公的手，来到了对面的小医院。年幼的我完全不知道，医院并不是看上去的那么圣洁，虽然穿着白大褂的医生，但并不是天使，多少人从这里向天国排起了长队？这里是命运的裁决地，却也是我的乐园，虽说是医院，却从未听见过救护车的鸣声划破长空，看见过血红的紧急手术灯亮起来过。调皮的阳光也总会到医院来躲一躲。我闻着“消毒花”，慢慢地散步在这静谧的后花园里。
外公做好每天的检查后，便载着我，向家边的麻将室驶去，打麻将是外婆退休后的乐趣之一。外公在麻将室里等着外婆结束，我则在隔壁的“傻子店铺”里两眼发光。一件件玩具都积上了灰，卖的都是市中心的盗版货，但在我的眼里，这一件件玩具都像是尊宝。我一看见外婆外公出来，就缠着外公外婆，小时候的我既是单纯的，又是机灵的。光看外婆脸上快乐的表情就知道，今天她准是赢钱了。“我好喜欢这个。”指着单薄货架上的一条项链，看向外公外婆。“又买重复的东西，家里那么多还买···”外公虽然表面上诉说着我，但手却不禁掏向口袋。“老头子，今天赢钱了，不要掏了。”外婆操着一口流利的上海话对外公讲，脸上还有一些笑意。一张皱巴巴的20元递过去，我便知道我的“阴谋”得逞了。三下五除二地打开坚硬的包装壳，迫不及待的戴在脖子上。“好好好，今天老太婆请客，走，我们去小商场！”外公也不经意地笑了起来，拉起我的手，而另一边是外婆。“小丫头。”外公轻轻地拍了下我的头，滑稽地说道。再也憋不住笑的我，终于开怀大笑。偏长的项链在肚脐上方一晃一晃的。三个人的影子在阳光下拉得长长的，童年的生活总是那么美好···
我希望这只是一场梦，醒来后，我就会发现外公外婆都坐在小餐桌的对面，一小碗米饭在我的面前，丰富的菜肴摆了一桌，热气缓缓地在空中飘散，消失···
我挠挠头，拿起调羹，喃喃道“原来，我做了一个很长很长的梦···我梦到了我的未来。
