三、四岁之前的事情对于我从来都没有留下任何记忆，我的故事，都只是奶奶与母亲闲聊时的往事，我曾很仔细的听着，用这些往事尝试着再一次编织起幼时的记忆。后来的变化，我都亲身经历，在我幼稚的脑中，牢牢地记住了我快乐时的许多物景。就像老屋被雨水冲刷参差而颤抖破裂的土墙，晚上睡下，便有老鼠在墙缝中欢跃奔跑，墙下枯藤老树，西风瘦马，母亲种下的豆角红色的小花，顺着院中的苹果树，一直攀上墙头。墙角古井辘轳，被岁月旋扭打磨得光滑圆润。墙侧的鸡巢中仍带着鸡腹温暖的蛋卵，被我的黑手一把抓住，欢呼奔跑着交给奶奶。我的身影，就在老屋的处处，我怀念着，就像记起当年的自己。
离开老屋时我只有三岁，随着父亲的奔波，要搬到河西戈壁一处劳改农场去，父亲为实现让我们一家辗转迁往城里的愿望，毅然背井离乡。奶奶不愿我离去，心里难过，时常在打理那么一点贫寒行囊的瞬间，眼泪便掉在破旧的包袱上。我们特意请来邻居的照相师傅，在我出生的床前，母亲抱着我，照了我的第二张相片，我歪着脑袋好奇的打量镜头，剃着小平头，眼睛漆黑明亮，穿着胸前还沾着一片没有洗掉泥污的绒线衣，胸口还绣着一只腾空的老鹰。母亲剪着齐耳的短发，微微笑着，脸上圆润而没有一丝皱纹。我的眼睛和母亲生得很像，同样透着天真淳朴的神光。她穿着自己亲手缝制的圆头领口，盘线纽扣的夹衣，黄底蓝线的格子，是那个时候的母亲。奶奶倚着门洞哭着，我一步都不曾离开过她，即便是去十里之外的外婆家，没有奶奶也是无论怎样也熬不到天亮的。我那样懵懂未知的远去，奶奶不知曾想念了多久，母亲不知是怎样难过忐忑的心情，摸索着一条漆黑不安的路程，再不见故乡的明月。
于是就到了戈壁滩中一个叫平川农场的地方。我的故乡并不是什么秀美的山川，依然山峦层叠，黄土丘陵，却精致而温暖，无论是泥泞的深巷小道，绊住了乡人的脚步，柴门后狂吠的黄狗，苍老的门洞槐树，檐下呢喃春燕，路中横卧的灰驴，或是荒凉的远山，山涧的铃响，田里等待一场春雨的麦禾，更有山前的溪流，水中嬉戏的顽童，我只到了这里，才觉故乡是那样美好平静。戈壁上没有山峦，一眼望去的尽是无限的沙尘和低矮的土丘，无趣的天空里偶尔飞过的大雁，枯竭的太阳和月亮，时而照着几分孤寂，时而隐在黄沙的后面，只如一副老画中隐约的一滴墨点，分明只是严酷和淡漠。唯一的树木便是屋前的白杨，几块初垦的菜田，用煤渣堆成的地垄，也能长出西瓜和西红柿。西瓜只能分得几个，沙地里的产物，真是甘甜滋润。西红柿却要冷落许多，成片的长着，熟透了就腐烂在地上，只是口渴时随手摘来，在衣襟上一擦便咬，汁水流出，也是爽口异常。最吸引人的，是常停在门口的一辆三轮摩托，白色的车身，碗口大的前照明灯透着几分神气，我央母亲扶着使劲爬上座椅，还够不着车把，便使劲的在装有弹簧的座椅上蹦搭几下。一旁还有一个专门乘坐的车斗，上面安装着一只替换的轮胎，仔细地研究一番，不肯下车，就这样拍了我最喜欢的这张相片。我歪斜地戴着一顶解放军黄绿土布的帽子，皱着眉头，毫无准备的面对着镜头，脸比离家时圆润了许多，个头明显的长高了，可仍有谁不放心我，从旁边伸出一只胳膊拽住了我的右手，我的不快，不知是相机快门的.一闪，还是因着那只胳膊。
这个荒芜又广阔的天地，连云彩都少有生出些许变化。每天跟着羊群，跑野了的伙伴，穿过一阵旋风，夹杂着母亲的呼喊。无趣时便去追逐一只慌张的野兔，看成群的麻雀乱哄哄地冲向枯燥的天空。戈壁滩分明而单调的四季，只有风是无论哪里都不曾遇到过的，刮起时，天昏地暗，连小块的砖头都会跟着跑起来。把脸贴在窗户上，听砂砾击打玻璃的声音。昏黄的灯下，母亲一针一线缝制着衣物。母亲的手已然粗糙，却异常灵巧，就在白天时，还干着男人们才能干得动的体力活，一手牵我，一手用一根铁夹，捡拾卡车奔驰中跌落的煤渣。结伴的妇人爽朗而愉快地开着往事的玩笑，生活的风尘打在各自的脸上，紫红色的脸颊，顺手扯下头巾，只一擦，便随风而去。
我们在这里只匆匆地度过了一年，就传来了要撤离的消息。有人悄悄地在黄昏的灯下哭了，许多家庭依然挺立着，便如屋前那排孤独的白杨，有的家庭，却已在风中被吹得支离破散。这些来自四面八方的人们，再一次收拾起简单的行装，各自奔往不同的前程。母亲照着父亲军装的样子赶制着我的一件新衣，鲜亮而俊俏的深绿色棱角分明，袖子和裤管做得很长，卷起来露在外面，又把父亲旧军装领口的红领章拆下来，缝在我的衣领上，我异常喜欢，背着父亲的水壶，同母亲在白杨树前照了张合影。母亲从故乡出来，依然还是当时的模样，只是那件圆口的夹衣，已然变成直角四方的狄卡式衣服了。
离去时的记忆，已经没有什么印象了。我们这个小小的家，穿越苦难，搁浅在现在的小镇。父亲的愿望伴随着许多痛楚，终于艰难地实现了，但却不得不拿出更大的力量，重新建起我们的归巢。奶奶从故乡赶来，是怎样的情景，我都已经忘记了，我们这个家族的爱，从来都深埋在心里，只一瞬间，都不知道该用怎样的行动表达。唯有那件鲜绿的军装，我一直穿了许久。幼儿园时有次邻坐的顽童故意抹了污渍在这件衣服上，我不知是怎样的愤怒，使劲地咬了他的手指，老师惊异的看我，就像看一条饥饿的小狗守护自己的骨头。
