玩累了，我俩坐在地头，可心问我吃不吃不甜秆，我以为她在逗我玩，因为到处都是干枯的苞米秆，一点水份都没有，那里会有什么甜秆。她说：“你等着，我给你找”。只见她随手拿一根苞米秆，麻利地折断、嗑开了，递给我，让我嚼一嚼。啊，可真甜呀，这是甘蔗吗？可心告诉我挑选甜秆的方法，我也学着可心的样子，找来一根苞米秆费劲地折断、嗑开了，哎吗，干巴巴的，一点甜水都没有，我无奈地吐出来，可心被我的滑稽样子逗笑了。
在我俩的笑声里，天渐渐地要黑了，一辆车开进她家的地里，把苞米拉走了……她妈妈在叫她回家，她恋恋不舍地看着我，什么也没说，当她坐在妈妈的摩托车后座上远去的时候还不住地回头、向我挥手……

4月2日中午12点左右，经过了盘山而上的羊肠小道，来到了我爷爷家。今天，我可算终于领略过什么叫‘蜿蜒曲折’了！那仅仅只有20厘米左右宽的小道，一路沿着崎岖的山路盘旋，像一条细长的飘带。
在农村，各家各户都会养鸡（只在老家湘潭的各家各户）。而我弟弟又是极喜欢小动物，那些鸡自然就成了他追逐的一个目标。刚下了车，他第一句话就喊“爷爷，鸡在哪儿啊？”然后三步并作两步向鸡窝奔去。但似乎又突然想到了什么，竟跑进了紧挨着鸡圈的厕所，在里面四下搜寻了一会儿，把目光停留在一根一米多长的竹竿儿上面。
要知道，湖南的竹子已经多到了随处可见的地步，在那些窄窄的小道上一走，竹子紧密的挨靠着，形成了一道天然屏障，紧紧将你罩在着清新翠绿而生机勃勃的竹竿儿与竹叶之中。而雨后的竹林，更是多了泥土的清新味儿。
刚说到我弟找到一根竹竿儿，他拿着这根竹竿儿蹑手蹑脚的溜进了鸡窝。说是鸡窝，其实是几块儿砖垒成的小房子，面一张较厚的纸，想从里面捉一只小鸡并非难事，而这间小屋仅供那几只***的母鸡和刚出生不久的小鸡使用。我那顽皮的弟弟先用竹竿巷鸡窝里捅了捅，然后把一只小鸡捉了出来。
这只小鸡非常可爱，窝里的那些鸡仔和城市里被“贩卖的小鸡”可不一样，它们的毛有些是清一色的黑色，而有些小鸡去有着黑色的背与翅膀，肚子下面的毛，却是米黄色的更显出“俏皮”与“天真”。
一直到了中午，我才知道哪根竹竿儿的真正用途。中午饭人要吃，鸡也要吃。他先舀了一勺（比汤勺还大许多的勺）米，喂给了等待开饭的鸡，等它们向诱人的大米走近时，他便举着那根长竹竿儿去赶鸡。把这群可怜的鸡从院子（农村每家都有一个半个小操场那么大的院子）西头赶到院子东头。都不知赶了多长时间，他也不觉得累，连中午饭都没吃，这也许就是兴趣的力量吧！
夜幕悄悄降临，爷爷家的院子里飞着成群结队的白色飞虫，天空上，甚至有北京只能在动物园才能看见的蝙蝠（当然不是吸血蝙蝠）。他们是独自行动的，以极快的速度在空中捕捉昆虫——它们的晚餐。那速度快到只能用摄影机才能捕捉到这暗夜间在空中游走的精灵。
