for what i said above, we can find some eamples of our fellow-students studying abroad. all young men do housework as girls do. someone would argue that we can employ servants. this is true. however, what shall we do if the servant leaves us and all things are left to ourselves? we just cannot leave our clothes as they are and let worms and ants eat them up. and what can we do it we go and study in a foreign country where servants are out our means to employ? we must work for ourselves. why not start to learn to do housework now or else it will be too late? everyone should learn to do housework. what do you think about my idea, boys and girls?

《新结婚时代》所反映的家庭问题，每个观众站在不同的角度，有同情的，有反对的，众说纷纭。作为已婚女人，我在看这部电视剧的时候，或多或少地从顾小西身上，依稀看到了自己当年的影子，感触很深。我爱人和何建国一样，也是来自贫穷的农村，他吃苦、能干，靠个人奋斗出人头地。我和他认识时，曾天真地把他看成是孤立的一个人，直到结婚后，心里也只有他自己，头脑里根本没有他那个农村老家的概念，他兄弟姐妹比较多，家里很穷，但我认为他已经留在城市了，那一切离我很远，可事情并没有这样简单。那时我们住在部队大院里，有一段时间，他老家经常有人背着包袱来我家，有看病的、有找工作的、有送孩子来当兵的，等等，作为女主人，我要一一接待，既要照顾孩子，又不能耽误工作，里里外外，手忙脚乱，那情景真有点像“激情燃烧的岁月”里石光荣的家一样，褚琴和顾小西所遇到的困惑，当初我也遇到过，表面上客客气气，但心中的烦恼自不待言，与爱人也发生过争执。不光如此，一些在观念和认识上的差异，也曾困扰过我好多年。
记得一本书里这样说过：恋爱是两个人的事，而婚姻是两个家庭的事，我本想嫁给你一个人，没想到却嫁给了你们一家人。城乡结合型的家庭在中国社会具有普遍性。许多“农村娃”聪明能干又能吃苦，在城市里出类拔萃，往往赢得城市人的尊敬和城市女孩的青睐，却很难让爱人接纳他的父母和农村的家庭。正因为每个“农村娃”的成功，几乎都贯穿着一段父母和家庭的血汗供养史，因而他们回报家庭的意愿，要比一般城市孩子强烈得多，每当这种意愿得不到满足时，与爱人间的矛盾就会产生并不断升级。应该看到，顾小西们不能接受的其实不是她的公婆，而是双方间无法融合的观念、心态和生活习惯上的差异；她们不是不能容忍自己的爱人尽孝，只是往往难以理解尽孝与共同生活在一起有什么必然联系？城市相对淡然的家庭氛围，限制了她们对农村血浓于水的亲情做出更透彻地理解。她们不明白，再深刻的爱情，也很难改变环境对一个人从小根深蒂固的影响。因此，几乎每个城乡结合的家庭都会发生摩擦和矛盾，而这种矛盾已不单纯是感情的矛盾，而是观念的矛盾，从更深的层面上说，它包含了城乡矛盾和阶层之间的矛盾。
《新结婚时代》演到最后，顾小西与何建国重归于好，与何家也达成谅解，令人欣慰。同时我也想到了自己，在与爱人的磨合中，逐渐适应了这种生活，慢慢明白了一个道理：和一个人结婚，是和这个人的家族结婚，是和他的亲戚朋友结婚，是和他的整个社会关系结婚；结婚不是两个人的事，是两个家庭的结合，是两个人所有社会关系的融合。只要调整好心态，一切都不是什么大问题。
