Sperber和Wilson主张用“关联原则”来解释人类的交际。他们认为，语言交际是一个认知过程，交际双方之所以能够配合默契，是因为有一个最佳的认知模式，即“关联”。关联由两个因素决定：语境效果和心智努力。人类认知活动的目标就是在认知过程中力图以最小的心智努力获得最大的语境效果。为了达到这个目标，人们必须把注意力集中于最为“关联”的信息，以获取信息和语境的最佳关联。最佳关联是指在话语理解时以一定的心智努力获得足够的语境效果。
交际是否成功关键在于人对事物之间的联系或关联的认识。人类在认知过程中往往以最大关联为取向，但在实际交际过程中我们只能期待产生一个最佳关联，即听者在理解话语时用最小的认知努力获得足够的语境效果，并以交际为取向。关联理论认为语境是一个在互动过程中为了正确理解话语而存在于人们大脑中的一系列假设，所以关联理论的语境不限于现实环境中的情景或话语本身的语境，交际中的语境不是固定不变的，而是动态的。而最佳的语境效果是由明示——推理模式提供的。明示，即说话人明白无误地表达出自己的意图；推理，即听话人从说话人提供的信息中推断出说话人暗含的意图。其中，听话人的推理是理解话语的核心，而关联则是听话人推理的基础。对话语进行推理就是在话语与语境假设之间寻找一种关联，关联选取得当就会获得足够的语境效果，有了语境效果，就能正确理解话语，使交际获得成功。

“在那遥远的小山村，小呀小山村，我那亲爱的妈妈，已白发鬓鬓……”听到那熟悉的旋律，正在写作业的我，不由地放下了笔，是对面商场里放出来的音乐。
我静静的听着这首歌，想着我的妈妈。
我的母亲今年四十多岁了，别人家四十多岁的母亲已经不再操劳了。他们的孩子已经上了大学，有的找了工作，有了自己的生活，而我因为出生的晚，现在才上初中，所以仍然要她为我日夜操劳。
我的生活自理不太好，生活上许多事情都得妈妈帮忙。我不会洗衣服，我的上衣。裤子甚至袜子都要她来洗。我也不大习惯换袜子和鞋，袜子要穿到很臭，臭到自己都觉得臭才十分不情愿地去换，每次妈妈看到我那臭袜子，都会大喊一声：“党若洲!你是不是上学忘穿鞋了?怎么这么脏?”然后皱着眉头用两个手指捏住袜子，尽量伸直胳膊，好让自己受到“熏陶”，再用另一只手捏紧鼻子，提到洗衣服的盆里，洗一次要用很多洗衣粉和俩盆清水。洗完她会特别的强调，下次如果还是这么臭，她就不给我洗了。但是，下一次她总是再次皱着眉头为我洗衣服。
我甚至不会叠被子，直到去年才学会。在那之前，一直都是她在叠。每天早晨，我还在睡梦中，她就起床了。她的闹钟总要比我的早二十分钟。待她开始做早饭的时候，我才悠悠地醒来，伸一个懒腰，起床。衣。洗漱。收拾书包，做完这些，刚好可以吃色香味美不凉不烫的早饭，然后打个招呼出门，而她的忙碌才刚开始。
在我看来，她总有做不完的家务，不管什么时候，总可以看到一个忙碌的身影，做饭。洗衣服。洗餐具。收拾家里一切的一切，周而复始，日复一日，从不间断。几次看着疲劳的她，逐渐长大的我懂得了心疼，想要帮点儿忙，却总被她推开，“去。去。去，写作业去，少给我捣乱，越帮越忙。你好好学习就是帮了最大的忙了!”而我连这唯一的要求都做不好有些，实在愧对于她。
在我看来，我的母亲没有书里写的那么伟大，但也决不可言其平凡。她没有做出像胡适的母亲为儿子舔病眼那样伟大的事迹，但她把这份深深的母爱融入到了生活的一点一滴中，无微不至地照顾着我。这种爱看不见，摸不着，但它确确实实就在这儿，这种感觉我无法描述，就像胡适说的：“我的笨笔写不出十万分之一二。”我只能引用别人的话来赞美母亲——世上的一切光荣和骄傲，都来自母亲!
这句话，我铭记在了心底。

在我的日常生活当中，有一位非常特别、重要的女士，那位女士像是一朵美丽的郁金香，温柔、慈祥、又坚强，每当我遇到挫折时，或是犯错的时候，她总是会用温柔的口气对我说：「遇到任何的困难都要想办法把它克服，只要不要气馁，只要缜密的思考，随时随地的想着做每件事情后的前因后果，这样就能减少犯错的机会，做任何的事情才会能得心应手，顺顺利利的。
她给了我最大的勇气，让我心中感到了无比的温暖。每当我最需要别人陪伴我的时候，她总是时时刻刻的在我身边陪伴着我，安慰着难过时的我、保护着受伤时的我，不让我受到一丝丝的伤害。每当我在的过程中，往往稍微的遇到不顺或是不如意的事情在自怨自艾、抱怨着不公平的时候，她总是会换一个角度为我着想，让我学到了许多的人生哲理和做人处事的方法，使我的生活变得多彩多姿、洋溢快乐。而给我最大的勇气、不让我受到任何伤害，让我生活变得多采多姿的那位伟大的女士就是——我美丽、温柔的妈妈哦!
我的妈妈是一位非常普通的女人。她有着一副平凡的面孔，额头上有几条鱼尾纹，有着一头普通的头发，她的衣着很普通，只有屈指可数的几套衣服。但是，她那高超如厨师般的手艺，让我吃的津津有味，她那快速如机器般的头脑，让我大开眼界。我的母亲是位贤妻良母，妈妈她每天都很早起床。起床后，便开始忙着做家事，煮饭、洗衣服，工作、上班等……，但她却从不说累，让我打从心里尊敬她。
我的妈妈就是这样的一位女人，她有着一副平凡的面孔，还有一颗善良的心，她就是这样的普通，但在我眼里她永远是最别的。
