My preference depends on the purpose of the travel. On a summer vacation I travel to refresh myself and to see the countryside. When I use my feet and walk on a grass covered path along a river or among the hills I feel detached from the noise of the city and closer to the nature. And when I travel on foot I get more freedom. I can plan my own schedule. I can choose my own route. I can stop where I like. 在中国文化历史的长河中，我们的祖先给我们留下了很多珍贵的文化遗产。位于河南洛阳的龙门石窟就是其中的一颗璀璨的明珠，一块石雕艺术的瑰宝！
龙门石窟是由50多座大、中、小石窟组成，有万佛洞、莲花洞……敬善寺、奉先寺……石窟中共有97000尊雕像，最大的有17.14米，最小的只有2厘米。在中国的石窟石雕艺术中规模最大，成就最高。
龙门石窟中最优美独特的就是莲花洞了。
莲花洞因窟顶雕有一朵逼真的大莲花而得名。莲花是佛教象征的名物，意为出污泥而不染，告诫人们要有一颗纯洁善良的心。据说人民大会堂天花板上的巨型莲花就是依据这里的莲花设计的呢！莲花周围雕有许多飞天，他们体态优美，表情自如，犹如一位位下凡的神仙。越看越使人陶醉……洞中的正壁上雕有一位大佛，二位弟子和二位菩萨。主尊像是释迦牟尼立像，生动逼真，活灵活现。其中左侧弟子迦叶，他深目高鼻，胸部筋骨突出，手里拿着锡杖，他的样子被雕得栩栩如生。可惜……据说二弟子的头早年就被盗了！现存法国吉美博物馆。有大佛当然有小佛啦！龙门石窟中最小的佛像只有2厘米高，这些高不盈寸的小千佛被雕在了莲花洞的南侧石壁上，看起来小巧玲珑，生动可爱……
莲花洞显示了石刻艺术的优美独特，而奉先寺凸显的是龙门石窟石雕技艺的精湛——神韵活现。
奉先寺——龙门石窟中规模最大、艺术最为精湛的一组摩崖群雕。其中，卢舍那大佛雕刻得最为精致逼真。她面部丰满圆润，发纹呈波状形，眉如新月，目含慈祥，高高的鼻梁，饱满的嘴巴，双耳长且略向下垂。她身着袈裟，衣纹简朴无华。站在她的脚下，仰望她那安详的神情，给人的感觉她就像一位母亲，很有依靠感——祥和、温柔、亲切……据史记载卢舍那大佛就是武则天的形象。后来，连日本也在奈良东大寺建立了卢舍那大佛以供奉……你看，那个时候我们的'文明就已经传向世界……
湾湾的伊河水环绕着龙门山和香山，而山上的座座石窟里的尊尊佛像俯视着柔静的河水，再加上蓊葱郁茂的原始森林，奇花异草，水烟濛濛，佛隐佛现，让你身处仙境一般……
这就是中国，乃至世界石刻艺术超然至高的龙门石窟，她的石窟之多，雕像之众，规模之大，刻艺之高超在中国，甚至世界的石窟雕刻艺术文化遗产中无与伦比，她充分彰显了华夏民族杰出的艺术创造力。
