这是一只羽翼未丰的小八哥。小八哥披着一身乌黑发亮的羽毛，在翅膀和肚皮的地方夹杂着很多尚未长齐的灰色小绒毛，一张尖尖的小嘴不停地叫着似乎要告诉我什么，一对黑珍珠般的眼睛不时地紧张地望着我，一双稚嫩的爪子还没有太强的攻击性……在我的眼里它真的和天使一样漂亮。我和爸爸把它拴在了窗台下，希望和这个小伙伴建立起友好的关系，我和小八哥之间的故事就这样开始了。
小八哥自从被拴住的那一刻起就开始不停地挣扎、鸣叫。似乎要把拴着它的绳子挣断，又似乎想要通过这样的哀号告诉我什么，可我不是鸟儿，无法听懂它的语言。当它把自己折腾得精疲力竭的时候，它也会安静一会儿，可眼睛却始终恶狠狠地瞪着那可恶的绳子。我想它可能饿极了吧，于是我抓来一把米喂在它跟前，它却根本不理睬这些粮食，只是一个劲地朝我鸣叫，真有一股“宁死不屈”的样子。我以为它是因为刚刚来我们家，有点儿不适应，过几天就会习惯的。
哪知过了几天，小八哥还是整天乱跳乱叫，我喂给它的食物一颗没少，地上还多了几根从它身上挣脱下来的羽毛，而且以窗台为半径的地上出现了一条淡淡的弧形血迹，小八哥每次乱跳的力气也越来越小了。我把它捧在手里想看看它那儿受了伤，天哪，小八哥的翅膀因为不知疲倦地拍打地面已经磨掉了它的羽毛，磨掉了它的皮肤，磨掉了它的肌肉，露出了它的皑皑白骨，流出了它的殷殷鲜血。我知道我犯下了不可饶恕的错误，我是决无可能替小八哥安排它的生活的，我明白了小八哥这几天义无反顾的行动，原来是想寻找它自由的天空。我怀着无比复杂的心情，和爸爸一起将小八哥放回了树丛中，希望它能好起来以此来弥补我的过失。那天夜里，天上下起了倾盆大雨，我辗转难眠……小八哥难逃此劫了，如果我早点将它放回大自然，它应该有更大的生存机会。
第二天一早，我去了小八哥藏身的树丛中，此时的小八哥已经停止了呼吸，两只眼睛还死死地盯着前方，带血的翅膀张的老大似乎还想振翅高飞……我不敢再看下去了，因为我的无知让一条鲜活的小生命离开了这个世界。直到今天，每当天空飞过小鸟时，我的心里就会生起一种深深的内疚感。

有许多的人一生在追求自由，他们认为自由是不为生活而烦恼，只有享受和快乐，但是他们错了，试想一想如果人的'生活中没有理想，何来自由。我曾听说过这样一个故事，一个人在生前只希望享受，在他死后，他来到了天堂。那里的人对他说，在这里你不需要有理想，你不需要考虑将来，你可以尽情的享受。一开始那个人很快乐，他终于实现了自己生前的梦想，但是很快，他发觉自己很空虚，每天只有漫无目的的玩乐。于是他便去找那里的人说，快让我离开天堂，我宁愿下地狱也不要待在这里，那里的人对他说，你以为这里是天堂吗，这里就是地狱……
这故事难道不值得我们深思吗？看似拥有自由的地方，却因为人们没有存在的理由而成为了地狱，这不也正是启示我们，拥有存在的理由，才有存在的意义。
有的人去自***去追寻他们口中所说的自由，去寻找自由的国度，但是自由的定义是自己存在的理由，人都死了有何来的自由呢？
在我身边的很多人认为追求自由和追求理想是不能划等号的，有了理想就失去了自由，理想就成为了自由的束缚。但是他们不曾想过如果失去了理想就等于失去了存在了意义，又

每项事物都是局限于“自由”与“不自由”两者之间。比如齐天大圣孙悟空，他虽然法力无边，自由自在，可是还有阎王爷管着他的生死。他学有所成后，大闹天宫，却被佛祖压在五行山下。他被唐僧救出后，头上便有了一个“金箍”，如果不听命令，唐僧便会念“紧箍咒”。于是，他明白之前的“自由”是任性而为，不是好事，要追寻更大的“自由”，必须专心向佛，才能修成正果。最后，孙悟空作了斗战胜佛，“金箍”自动脱落了，从此他拥有真正的“自由”，变得更加强大，但此时的他已经懂得如何运用“自由”，限制自己的个性了。
生活环境给予我们很多“不自由”，但是只要有毅力和决心，通过自身努力便能获得更多的“自由”。比如先天聋盲的海伦·凯勒，她看不见光，便用鼻子呼吸阳光；她听不见雨声，便用手指捕捉风向；她没有受过专业的教育，便勤奋刻苦学会读书写字。她虽然有身处黑暗的“不自由”，却通过不懈奋斗从黑暗中得到了“自由”，成为闻名世界的女作家。再比如天才物理学家霍金，年轻时患了运动神经元疾病，全身除了三个手指头外都不能运动，但他没有怨天尤人，反而突破身体的极限，完成了《时间简史》等巨著，为人类作出了突出贡献，实现了思想的“自由”。
每个人在社会生活中都将面对“自由”和“不自由”两种选择，就像文中的小男孩，没学游泳时身子总往水下沉，还会呛水，处处“不自由”。学会后，男孩能感受到游泳的“自由”，但同时发现，纵使自己会许多样式，也要按照一定姿式来，才能游好，越是乱扑腾，越游不好，想游好，就不能随心所欲。所以，只有掌握了更多的技能知识和客观规律，我们才能逐渐摆脱“不自由”的束缚，实现真正的“自由”。
