许渊冲，一位96岁的老先生，北京大学教授，翻译家。从事文学翻译长达六十余年，译作涵盖中、英、法等语种，翻译集中在中国古诗英译，形成韵体译诗的方法与理论，被誉为"诗译英法唯一人" 。
老人的出现，令在场观众肃然起敬，不约而同的起立鼓掌。他讲述自己当年为了追求女同学，而去翻译林薇因写给徐志摩的.情诗时，老泪瞬间纵横。那一刻，我真为他的痴情和怀旧而撼动。他一个百岁之人，谈起当年的爱情故事，依然有一颗激情澎湃，永远年轻的心。
对待爱情，他能够如此，对待工作，他更是执着无比。许老已于10多年前，就被诊断出直肠癌，且已为中外文化传输做出过杰出贡献，单论高寿，也理应该安享晚年。然而，他至今每天依然坚持工作到凌晨3、4点钟，他并且开朗乐观、风趣幽默地说：
“我要每天偷出夜晚的几个小时时间，去补充白天该做的工作，该学的习。”
他那种活到老、学到老，永远用年轻人的心态努力工作的可贵精神，感动了观众，感动了我。
