我老家鄱阳湖将要建成世界上最大的湿地公园，鄱阳湖是中国最大的淡水湖，还是国际重要湿地。古称彭蠡泽、彭泽、澎湖或彭蠡。湖盆由地壳陷落、不断淤积而成，形似葫芦。鄱阳湖南北长173公里，东西最宽处达74公里，平均宽16。9公里，湖岸线长1200公里，湖体面积4125公里。
由于受暖湿东南季风的影响，鄱阳湖年降雨量平均1636毫米，从而形成“泽国芳草碧，梅黄烟雨中”的湿润季风型气候，并成为著名的鱼米之乡。因为这里的环境和气候适合候鸟过冬，所以，每到10月份，成千上万的候鸟会从各地飞来。形成了一个天然的候鸟公园。
鄱阳湖经过漫长的历史演变，形成南宽北窄的形状，犹如一只巨大的`宝葫芦系在万里长江的腰带上。鄱阳湖不仅有着悠久的人文历史，还有着许多名胜古迹、香飘四溢的风味小吃，朴素的民风、民俗。
