What distinguished her among her classmates, I think, was that she went far beyond acquiring excellent scores in the exams and instead got her range of knowledge enlarged. In spring, 2006, Miss Pan took the course I taught named Algebraic Structures and Combinatorial Mathematics. This inquisitive and assiduous young woman was sometimes the last to leave after my class, raising novel questions related to the subject. I found that she understood the knowledge in depth and detail. Furthermore, I still remember during the spring vocation in May, due to the break-down of my mail box, I missed her mails to discussing some questions. But the following week during the course time, she asked me directly. Her zeal for knowledge and the spirit to explore answers really leave me a deep impression. Finally, she was among the few students who got almost full marks in every test in class which showed her exceeding grasp of every chapter. Thus, I gave her 98/100 for the excellent performance in my course.

然而，几年后的一天，当我再次看到那条河时，不禁吓了一跳。河水已经不清澈见底了，水是浑浊的，还夹杂着一些脏东西，光秃秃的河床上，水已快枯竭了，还散发着臭气。这些臭水是从哪里流出来的呢？我放眼望去，只见几家工厂正向天空喷射着烟雾，烟雾污染了白云，然后变成酸雨飘落下来，毒害大地；同时，工厂还不断地向河流排泄废水，将清清的河流变成了浑浊的毒水。煤是大自然几亿年蕴藏的太阳能，而在短短的几百年内得大量的开发和利用，大量的煤炭燃烧生成二氧化碳，造成了地球的温室效应。同时煤中数少量硫的燃烧生成二氧化硫气体，随雨水降到地面上，形成酸雨。酸雨毁坏了大量森林，成为生态系统的空中***手。
排水场的水还不断地向河里排放污水，就连河边的植物也死去了。这不就是垃圾场吗？原来干净的河水不再清洁，河水也不再流淌、空气不再清新。人们到底对这条相伴多年的老河抱着什么样的态度呢？是继续污染环境还是保护河流呢？是做破坏者还是做环保者呢？
由于水源的污染和地下水的超量开采，人类的淡水资源已经开始告急。由于森林的砍伐和过度开垦，放牧、水土流失和土地沙漠化问题日趋严重。由于地球的破坏，截至xx年已有2、3万种植物和1000多种脊椎动物绝灭，现在每小时就有1种生物从地球上消失。土地污染，人类乱砍树木，岩石下滑，洪水冲毁了房屋，淹没了庄稼；人们往河里乱丢垃圾，造成了水污染，到处可见随手扔掉的塑料口袋，形成白色污染。人们乱***动物，造成动物灭绝；人们乱摘花木，使我们失去了美丽。人类只有一个地球，我们生活在地球上，就要保护地球，保护我们的家园。

最吸引我们眼球的是，分四个展区集中展示的环保公益作品、环保科技作品、环保手工艺作品、环保时装秀。这些都是河北科技大学和我们四十中学志愿者亲手制作的环保展品、模型环保创意作品。这些参展的手工制品取材，全是塑料瓶、废板材等废旧物料他们丰富的想象力令我们叹服。首先吸引我的是无电动力车，设计者用牙膏盒和四个小轮胎制作成车，在尾部安装磁铁，手中的小棒也装有磁铁，利用同极相斥的原则，使车无需电池也能行驶。接下来的是大学生的塑料瓶系列展品，他们用一双双灵巧的手，将普通的瓶子变成一束束鲜花、一款款手镯、一个个储物盒最令人拍案叫绝的是用两个塑料瓶组成的沙漏，构思巧妙，制作精美，让人们赞不绝口。另一个大学生用一个个瓶盖做成了一套象棋，棋盘是由报纸做成的，真是即美观又经济环保。一位大姐姐还用废旧牛仔裤做成了背包，有许多人背起背包拍照留念。大嘴巴便签框是用废旧的开关贴组成的，将便签放进去就组成了一颗颗牙齿，栩栩如生，惟妙惟肖。各种各样的创意作品让我们开阔了眼界，增长了见识，激发了我们的奇思妙想，让我明白了科技与生活息息相关。其实，生活并不是缺少美，而是缺少一双善于美发现的眼睛。在生活中，我们要留心观察周围事物，做一个生活中的有心人，大胆的将一些废弃物和环保材料废物利用，也许你会收获到意想不到的效果。
据悉，这些参展的手工制品将在24个县市区进行巡展，让老百姓感受到科技带来的环保，会是可持续的环保，使市民在日常生活中保护我们的环境，爱护我们的城市。
活动的最后，我们观看了穹幕电影《深海绿洲》，那里有美丽的自然景观，各具特色的生物，它们和谐相处、其乐融融，影片向我们介绍了各种生物的习性，领略了独特的自然风光，认识了许多生物学家。穹幕电影《深海绿洲》让人有身临其境的感觉，随着情节的发展或平静或激动，让人们更深刻的体会到人与自然、人与动物应和谐相处，和它们成为朋友。
活动结束后，让我对本次活动的主题有了更深刻的认识，在实际生活当中，我们要将环保与科技紧密结合起来，为创造健康生活贡献自己的一份力量，争做一名我环保，我健康，我快乐的环保志愿者。
