三门峡陕州地坑院，那里是一个神奇的地方。简单的.说就是修建在地下的民居相当于北京的四合院。地坑院的成因：一是社会经济原因，据历史记载在相当的历史时期，生活在黄土塬的先民比较贫困。建造房屋难度很大，而地坑院结构简单，所用建材少，建筑成本低，只需自家的劳动力于农闲之时便能在一年半载中建成一座窑。二是地质原因，豫西地区的陕县塬上一带，黄图层堆积深厚，一般在50-150米左右。黄土土质结构十分紧密，具有抗压，抗震，抗碱等作用。这里的地下水水位较低，一般都在30米以下，这些都为“地下挖坑，四壁凿洞”的居民形式提供了得天独厚的条件。三是气候原因，豫西地区属于半干旱性气候，特别凉爽干燥。四季分明，一年四季温差较大更能体现出窑洞“穴居”冬暖夏凉的优势。
不得不感叹地坑院的神奇。每去一个地方就学到课本以外的知识。真可谓是“读万卷书，不如行万里路。”
