初春是植树的最好季节，上周六就是我国政府规定的植树节，学校没有组织大家进行植树活动，一是学校里能植树的地方都种上了，二是：校外的绿化有关部门和集体都有了种植规划，我们帮不上忙。那么植树节里，作为学生的我们该做些什么呢?那就是爱树!
爱护学校的一草一木。我校是常熟市绿色学校，校内的花草树木种类有70多种，绿化面积达19126平方米，给我们营造了一个优美、舒适的工作学习环境。校园里一草一木，一花一叶都凝聚了校园种花工人的汗水与心血，来之不易，我们应好好的珍惜。
爱树就是爱惜生命。要知道，地球上有了绿色植物之后，才孕育出动物生命，从人类的祖先古猿的诞生，到进化为现代人猿，在森林中至少度过了100多万年的时间，可以说人类是在绿色的摇篮中逐渐成长起来的。林中的雾霭，鸟鸣虫吟，野草芳花，飞禽走兽，使我们的祖先日臻完美。在我们每个人的细胞基因里，隐藏着多少绿色的生命秘密啊!现代社会里，我们常听说：许多小孩得了古怪的什么"游戏机综合症"、"儿童孤独症"、"儿童高血压"、"电视眼"、"高楼综合症"等，而大人，高血压、冠心病、糖尿病、消化性溃疡、神经衰弱，癌症等发病率逐年上升，这些无不与人们生活环境缺少绿色植物有关，所以爱护绿色环境，营造绿色环境，也就爱惜了健康，爱惜了生命，回归了大自然，找回人类失去的宝贵天性。
爱树还是一种传统，爱树的核心就是"种"，哪一个国家，哪一个民族，不年年种树?在我国，哪一个地区，哪一个城市，哪一个乡村，没有每年的绿色计划?从***到平民百姓，谁的一生中不种活好几棵树?植树节将成为我国一个有特殊意义的传统节日。在东欧，在法国巴黎有这样一个习俗：婴儿出生要栽一棵"理想树"，上学时栽一棵"求知树"，18岁时栽一棵"青春树"，大学毕业栽一棵"成才树"，结婚时栽一棵"同心树"，一个人一生中平均栽活6棵树。这样，人人栽，年年栽，代代栽，栽出点点新绿，栽出片片生机，栽出不断扩大的生存空间，栽出无边无际的波涛汹涌的`森林之海，那无所不在的森林，也将染绿一个国家，一个民族，染绿它的历史，染绿它的风俗习惯。
都喜欢绿色环境，但并不见得人人都自觉爱护并创造绿色环境。因此，自觉、热情的创造、爱护绿色环境，来源于他对生命意义认识的升华，源于他公心，源于他对社会，对人的关心。试想一个极端自私自利，对社会，对人漠不关心的人，他会珍爱树木花草吗?
爱树木，爱花草，爱鸟兽是一种美德，孩子们从小就应受到这样的环保教育，这种绿色的教育，绿色的熏陶，会让我们每一位人的人性更美!

中国设立中国植树节的根本目的在于保护森林，增种树木。
每一棵大树的生长都对人类社会有相当大的积极作用。国外曾有学者对树的生态价值进行过计算：一棵50年树龄的树，产生氧气的价值约31200美元;吸收有毒气体、防止大气污染价值约62500美元;增加土壤肥力价值约31200美元;涵养水源价值37500美元;为鸟类及其他动物提供繁衍场所价值31250美元;产生蛋白质价值2500美元。除去花、果实和木材价值，总计创值约196000美元。
成群的树林能对生态系统起到很好的保护作用。一公顷林地与裸地相比，至少可以多储水3000立方米。1万亩森林的蓄水能力相当于造价千余万元、蓄水量达100万立方米的水库。有专家预测，假如地球上失去了森林，约有450万个生物物种将不复存在，陆地上90%的'淡水将白白流入大海，人类面临严重水荒。森林的丧失更会使许多地区风速增加60%~80%，因风灾而丧生的人可达数亿。
在城市，行道树同样可对人类社会作出有益贡献。一棵树一年可以贮存一辆汽车行驶16公里所排放的污染物。很多树木可以吸收有害气体，如1公顷柳杉林每天可以吸收二氧化硫60千克，其他如臭椿、夹竹桃、银杏、梧桐等都有吸收二氧化硫的功能。人口稠密缺少绿化的城市每立方米大气中有细菌3.4万个，是森林的一万倍，而城市内种植一定数量的数目后，大气含病菌量可减少约80%。“城市森林”可增加空气湿度，一株成年树，一天可蒸发400公斤水，使空气湿度上升的同时，亦可降低城市的温度，减缓热岛效应。城市林带、绿篱有降低噪音的作用，宽30米的林带可降低噪音6~8分贝。城市防护林具有减缓风速的作用，其有效范围在树高40倍以内，其中在10~20倍范围内可降低风速50%。
