亚冬会只一周，倏忽而过。中国队以12金14银9铜，排在日韩之后，位居奖牌榜第三。其实无需太多时日，这份成绩单便会淹没在人们甚至参赛运动员的记忆中。真正牵动中国冰雪军团心门的，是关于未来的种种欣喜与隐忧。冬季运动，在中华大地的`施展与荣光，比想象中更艰难。
竞技场上的冰雪运动，在中国属于“后进”分子，直到近些年来，才有了一些突破，也确立了几个“优势项目”。短道速滑便是其中之一。
上届亚冬会中国队在短道速滑比赛中取得4金1银2铜的成绩，当时包揽女子500米金银牌并夺得3000米接力金牌，男队拿到500米和1000米两枚金牌。本届比赛中国队拿到3金2银1铜，成绩较上届有所下滑。尤其是女队，在传统优势项目500米比赛中，范可新没有发挥自己的正常水平，最后一圈给了对手超越犯规的机会。女队的唯一一枚金牌是意外之喜，来自臧一泽，属于“捡漏”夺金。与老对手韩国队相比，中国女队目前女子500米和3000米接力的优势完全丧失，1000米和1500米等中长距离几乎毫无竞争力。
冰壶算是中国冬季运动中国人还比较熟悉的项目。这并不是群众基础好，而是因为冰壶队在国际上的战绩不错，媒体曝光率高。本届亚冬会男女冰壶队双双夺冠。结局是美好的，过程却是不易的。中国女队新老结合，老队长王冰玉复出，增强了全队的实力。她们曾在循环赛中输给韩国队。赛后连王冰玉都说：“赢得有些运气。”

跳台滑雪是冬季运动中最好看的项目之一。不过中国队去选苗子，却遇到了不少阻滞。中国跳台滑雪队官员朱书墨说了一个段子：“我们和别人说要招跳台的孩子，人家一般都以为是跳水队来人了。再仔细一解释，人家接着问，这是什么项目?”没有知名度，便没有关注度，自然更不会有普及度。中国跳台滑雪队在亚冬会团体比赛中排名垫底，无缘奖牌。
跳台滑雪的尴尬，其他许多冬季项目也感同身受。“三分之一项目没开展，三分之一一脚门里一脚门外，只有三分之一在世界高水平舞台上。”在中国代表团团长高志丹的总结中，三分之一在世界高水平舞台上的都是冰上项目。对于中国选手来说，雪上项目连日常练习都成困难。“有的雪场从市区往返要八个小时，一些雪场没有缆车，必须通过拖牵。至于高山项目，国内甚至连一个高山雪场都没有。”北京申奥成功，促成了转机。如今大部分雪上项目队伍已拥有了充足的经费前往海外训练。但人才储备的薄弱、社会关注度的低下，想要突破，很难。
