屈原是战国末期楚国的诗人、政治家。他出生于楚宗室贵族，少年受过良好的教育博学多才，志向远大。
屈原的出生标志着中国进入了一个由集体唱到个人独创的新时代，他被后人称为“诗魂”。
屈原不仅是后人的“诗魂”，他还是楚国重要的政治家，早年受楚怀王信任，任坐徒、三闾大夫等重要职位。他提倡“美政”主张对内举贤任能，修明节度。对外力主联齐抗秦。
因为屈原的才能压过了当时的贵族，所以遭到了贵族的排挤毁谤，那些贵族常在怀王的面前说屈原的坏话。说他夺断专权，不把怀王放在眼里。挑拔的人多了，怀王对屈原就渐渐的疏远。楚怀王死后由太子继位，就是后来的楚襄王。楚襄王上位后剥夺了屈原的官职，将其流放到汉北等流域。受到如此不公的对待，一心报国的屈原只能在悲伤中度过一转眼就是十六年，在此期间屈原写下了大量的文学作品，如：《九章·悲回风》、《怀沙》等名著。
公园278年，秦国派大将白起带兵攻打楚国，楚国国都沦陷，楚襄王和那些执掌大权的贵族狼狈逃走。听到国都沦陷的消息，屈原在极度苦闷，完全绝望的心情下于农历五月初五这一天抱着一块大石头跳到汩罗河里，以身殉国。这一年屈原六十二岁。
听到屈原跳进汩罗河，附件的渔民和庄稼人赶紧划着小船去救屈原，入眼的只是汪洋大水，哪儿还有屈原的影子。渔民和庄稼人回家里拿竹板子装的米饭撒在河里，希望河里的鱼虾不要伤害屈原。后来，人们把五月初五这一天称为端午节，也叫端阳节，把盛着米饭的竹板子改成粽子，把小船改为龙舟在江面上竞赛，用这样的方式来纪念屈原。再后来，逐渐就变成了全中国的一种风俗。
故事到这里就结束了，看着手机上的“端午节快乐”我突然觉得短短的五个字是那么的沉重。我想，我以后再也不会在端午节说出这五个字了。
这个清晨我发现自己学到了很多。
今天，是爱国诗人屈原的纪念日。
