如何检验人体是否带大量电荷?这里介绍一个简单的实验方法。在冬天，准备一只验电笔的氖泡，用手指捏住氖泡一个电极，用另一个电极去碰金属门手柄，如果发现氖泡发出红光(通常一闪即熄，表明你身上带有大量电荷;如果不发光，则表明你身上不带静电。当你身上的电荷都通过氖泡泄放给大地了，你便可以放心去碰金属门手柄，不会再发生触电现象。如何消除人体上的电荷?除了用氖泡可以检验和消除人体上堆积的电荷，还可用一段长3～5厘米长的小木棍，当你走到门口时，用手拿住小木棍的一端，用小木棍的另一端去碰金属门手柄，这样你身上的蓄积电荷通过木棍缓慢放电，过一会再用手去拉金属门手柄，就不会遇到触电现象了。这是因为木棍电阻较大，人体通过木棍流向金属手柄的电流很小，一般人是感觉不到的。如果用手直接去碰金属手柄，由于金属电阻极小，人体通过金属进入大地的电流较大，会感到麻电。
