中国的教育理念习惯于让受教育者严格按照教育主持者的意志、愿望、要求、按部就班地进行。几千年以来，无论是封建社会的教育体制还是近代现代的教育体制，虽然在教育的内容上有了很大的改变，但教师与学生之间的领导与被领导、支配与被支配的这种关系，却从根本上没有得到改变，学生与教师之间始终存在着一定的不平等的距离。
现在的教育虽然倡导让学生自主、合作、探究地学习，但由于受不同层次、不同类别的的影响，教师学生都有一种“放不开”之感。在这种情况下，学生不按教师的目的去学习，能考出好成绩吗？面对这样的现实，如何既让学生成才又要与教育要求相协调呢？作为一名教育工作者，首先需要弄清楚的是教育的终极目的是什么？那么教育的终极目的到底是什么呢？笔者认为，教育的终极目的应该是：教育者对被教育者进行的对生活、对学习、对工作、对行为等方方面面的一种良好的综合习惯的培养。
中国有一句俗语叫“书到用时方恨少”，这句话隐含了这样一个道理：学习是没有时间限制的，无论是少年、青年还是老年，都要养成不断学习的习惯，这样才能不断进步，这实际上与现在提倡的终身学习是一脉相通的。而要养成终身学习的习惯，在对事物开始感知认知的青少年阶段尤为重要。这个阶段如果养成了良好的综合习惯，对一生的成长发展有着重要的意义。
如何养成这种良好的综合习惯呢？这就要求我们的教育工作者做好对学生从小就进行“习惯成自然”的培养。前几年媒体上曾报道过这样的新闻：中日两国青少年学生举行“冬令营”联欢活动，日本的学生只有教师组织带队，而中国的学生大多数有家长陪护；日本的学生能够自己亲手制作饭菜，而中国的学生却需要大人们的照顾；日本的学生在寒冷的冬天仅穿着单薄的衣裳，而中国的学生却着数件棉袄还不停地颤抖。两相比较得出的结论是：日本的学生有自己照顾自己的习惯，中国的学生有依赖大人照顾的习惯。
此处笔者并非是褒日贬中，举这个例的目的是要说明：同是生活在一个星球上、同食五谷杂粮的孩子，为什么会有如此大的.差异？这难道还不能引起人们的深思吗？日本的孩子为什么从小就会自己照顾自己，而中国的孩子为什么不会照顾自己，这应该与从小接受的教育习惯有关，而且至关重要！
国外发达国家究竟是怎样教育孩子的，我们大多数人只能从媒体的报道上了解一些。但我们是怎样对自己的孩子进行教育的呢？我们完全可以对照自己的教育方式来进行一下反思：孩子在未入学之前，我们对他们进行的是“孔融让梨”的“礼义”式教育；带孩子去朋友家做客，事先要对孩子进行“循规蹈矩”的“规矩”式教育；孩子不小心做错了事，则对孩子进行“棍棒成才”的“打骂”式教育；孩子们在一起玩游戏，就要对他们进行“爱护新装”的“干净”式教育。孩子在入学之后，我们对他们的教育要求就相应地升了一级：成绩在班上一定要进入前三名，一定要获得“优秀三好学生”的荣誉，各种比赛一定要获奖，在学校一定不能犯任何错误，一定要遵守校规班纪，一定要考上重点高中、考上重点大学；更甚者还对孩子作出了许多“不能”的要求：不能与同学追逐打闹，不能与异性交朋友，不能多管与学习无关的“闲事”，不能去同学家玩，不能带同学来家里玩，不能看电视，不能去上网。凡此种种，在我们的生活中还少见吗？这样教育培养的结果，不难想象，会是一种什么样的“人才”！如果我们的教育总是这样延续下去，那恐怕与世界发达国家的差距会越来越大。
综上，我们对教育的最终目的应该报予重新认识和理解。笔者以为，教育并不是一定要教给学生全部的“师知所知”的知识，而是要教会学生“师知所会”的方法，进而使学生养成对学习、对生活、对工作、对做人、对劳动、对行为、对社会等方方面面的良好的综合习惯。学生一旦养成了这种良好的综合习惯，就能使这种习惯伴随一生。这种习惯一旦形成，我们的孩子还需要大人们处处都去呵护吗？所以，我们需要的教育并不是教多少知识给孩子，而是要教会孩子养成一种终身受益的行为习惯。

每个人都会有好习惯和坏习惯，就拿我弟弟的好习惯和坏习惯来当例子好了，我觉得弟弟的好习惯当中，最值得学习的是他每次放学回家后，都会把帽子放在固定的地方，这样子，他第二天上学的时候，就可以很快速的找到帽子，不像我，每次放学回家一进门，就把帽子乱丢，到了第二天早上要赶着上学时才急急忙忙到处寻找，害得上学时都差一点迟到呢！ 再来，弟弟的坏习惯当中，我觉得最糟糕的是每次放学回家后，都会把鞋子随地一丢，就跑出去玩了，害奶奶每次都帮他把鞋子放好，避免别人不小心绊倒，希望弟弟能丢鞋子乱丢的'习惯改掉。我问妈妈我和弟弟共同的好习惯是什么?妈妈说:我和弟弟上学从不赖床，这就是我和弟弟最值得称赞的好习惯，并且要我们二个能持续保持这种好习惯。
每个人都友値得称赞的好习惯和需要改进的坏习惯，好习惯要从小开始培养，发现有坏习惯时，就要马上改进，这样长大以后才会有好的成就。
