他瘫坐在小镇中心一间普通民房的一把旧椅子上，脏乱的头发散在额前，遮住了眼睛，身子紧紧裹在已经磨得泛白的大衣里，脖子也深深缩进了高高竖着的衣领，好像深怕一丝光漏进去似的。其实这间房子已经两个星期没有电了，又哪来的灯光？
比尔微微抬了抬眼，看了看身边。此时，房间里已经空空如也。“唉，我已经失业6个月了。”比尔想起了墙角里放着的那台唱机，想起了爸爸站在唱机前唱《快乐的鸭子》的情景，他又想起家里从前聚会，沙发上的人们高声喧哗的场面；还有那只硬木桌子，那个精美的衣橱，还有……
“我已失业6个月了。”比尔再一次告诉自己，他的手在口袋里插的更深，紧紧地握着口袋里的那件东西。
能卖的他已经都卖光了。
忽然窗户被吹开，风钻了进来，肆意地在比尔的`耳边呼啸，刮起一张张的白纸，那是比尔熬了几个通宵打出来的十几封求职信，然而他们却被无情地退了回来。
“连风也在嘲笑我吗？”比尔慢慢地坐了起来，“是时候了。”他口袋里的手在颤抖。
忽然，比尔又似乎想起了一件什么事，他翻遍身上，找出那张黄色的信纸。
这是罗伯特先生昨天请比尔帮忙交给汉克先生的。
“哈，都这种时候了，还想这些！”
一个求职时偶然遇到的老板的嘱托，何必？比尔又握紧了口袋里那硬硬的东西。
“不，我已经答应了他，这是最后的一件事了。”
于是，比尔戴了顶帽子，出门了。
他来到位于小镇最南端的汉克的公司。当他敲开门，来到汉克的办公室时，汉克正沮丧地抱着头，看上去非常痛苦。比尔平静地说：“你好，汉克先生，这是罗伯特先生让我转交给您的，好了，再见！”一边说，他一边把信放在桌上，然后转身就走。但比尔还没走出门，就听汉克大叫，“噢，噢……我有救了。”他追上来抓住比尔，不，是抱住他，不知该说什么好。原来，信上写着个号码，是汉克焦灼地等待的一个客户的账号，汉克必须在今晚据此处理好一切，否则就可能***。“年轻人，太感谢了，我有什么能帮你的吗？”比尔眼睛里放出了光，小心翼翼地回答：“我需要一份工作。”
10分钟后，比尔走出了大楼，路过一个垃圾桶，随手把一只手 枪从口袋里掏出来扔了进去。“去你的吧！我有救了。”

Mankind has brought so much pollution. Waste is being poured into rivers and seas. Poisons to kill pests in farming and chemicals go into rivers and seas, too. Poisonous gasses from factories also make the air so dirty. The whole balance of nature is being destroyed as a result of our ignorance of the environmental protection.
Personally, man can not live alone on the earth. Should fish die from serious pollution, so would man! It is high time we did something to prevent such a scene from happening.
