在论证中，文章的几个层次，段落之间的关系是平行的，就是并列式。这是经常使用的一种结构方式。
写作时，根据需要，大体有两种情况：
1、是为了论述方便，说理清楚透彻，把文章的论点进行分解，分成几个分论点。这些分论点之间的关系是平行的，并列的。
2、是在论证过程中，为了充分摆事实，讲道理，把几个论据并列起来。
并列关系的顺序安排可以灵活，但是应该考虑并列关系的几个方面的轻重程度及其相互关系。一般的说，应把最重要的放在最前面。当然，有时几个并列的方面并没有程度的差别，安排顺序时只要符合一般的思维习惯就可以，不一定有严格的次序。
从形式上说，为了使读者一目了然，几个并列的层次或段落，可以在前面标以“第一”、“第二”、……或“首先”、“其次”等。

在论证中，把两种事物（或意思）加以对比，或者是用另一种事物（或意思）来烘托某一种事物（或意思），就是对照式。
运用对照式，目的是通过两个方面的对照，突出说明其中一个方面的正确性，因此。写作中往往是对一个方面用墨多些，做为论述的重点，另一方面却起烘托、陪衬的作用。

事物的特征主要表现在构造(内外，形态(大小、长短等，性质(硬、软、冷、热等，变化(动、静、快、慢，成因(简单、复杂，功用(广狭、正反等等方面。一般来说，说明文要说明的要点，往往就是事物的特征。除说明的重点外，还耍弄清作者介绍的是事物哪些方面的特征，又是从哪些角度介绍的。例如《死海不死》一文，围绕死海的特征，从三个角度进行说明：先说死海的“死”(现象特征，再说死海的“不死”(本质特征，最后又说到死海的“不死”与“死”(现状与未来发展特征。这样死海的全面特征便被一层一层地揭示出来了。又如《苏州园林》一文，围绕"无论站在哪一个点上，眼前总是一幅完美的图画"这一总特点，从五个方面加以说明：亭台轩榭的布局；假山池沼的配合；花草树木的映衬；近景远景的层次；以及门窗雕镂琢磨和颜色等。这样从不同方面归纳分析，也就全面把握了苏州园林的特色。初一英语作文写作思路和技巧【七】
