the summer vacation had come round again. i was happy that i could forget about school at least for a while. lest i fool around all through this summer vacation, i made a plan as to how to spend it. first, i thought i should go over all those things my teachers taught in the previous term so that i could have a better understanding of them.
then i thought i should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running and rowing, to keep me physically strong. it stood to reason that with such a good plan i should make the best of my vacation time. i did, because i lived up to what i had planned.

summer can be very hot in southern taiwan where the temperature usually goes up to 32"c or more. because of the heat it is a trying experience to go to school or do anything else in a place that is not air-conditioned. also because of this i stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and only occasionally go to the beach to plunge myself into the cool water as a way to keep my body less sticky.
actually i like swimming and think nothing is more refreshing than a swim. in the summer vacation that has just ended i went swimming many times with my classmates and we all had a good time. this summer vacation, however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. as a second-year senior student i had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were only a year away. in other words, i must find time to study, too.
so i divided my time between work and play during the summer vacation and derived much benefit from this arrangement.

At college, I missed my parents a lot. As the term was drawing to an end, I eagerly looked forward to going home. And I planned to do a thousand and one things during the vacation. She completely deprived me of sharing her work. As soon as I opened a book to read,she would sit down beside me and ask me about all kinds of things at the college. When I left home at the end of the vacation, not a thing in my plan had been carried out. But I felt very happy. I believed much more deeply than before in the old saying: Home, sweet home. 说实话，我并不喜欢昆虫，甚至害怕讨厌它们。《昆虫记》是我看的第一本昆虫书，法布尔把他毕生从事昆虫研究的成果和经历，用平实、质朴的语言娓娓道出一个丰富繁杂的昆虫世界。但我还是觉得学术性偏强一些，胆小的我有点害怕这些张牙舞爪的虫子，直到我遇到了《酷虫学校》……
哈，瞧它的封面已经吸引了我，上面全是拟人化的虫子们：羞嗒嗒的萤火虫，红唇美眉丽罗花金龟，流着鼻涕、眼泪汪汪的叩头虫，气势汹汹的狼蛛001正跟蝼蛄、地老虎幼虫、蚯蚓宝宝比赛跑步呢，很会做生意的胖水龟虫正向仰泳蝽推销“多功能游泳镜”呢，鸟粪象鼻虫在旁边都听得醉了，立刻做出了一个装死的动作……
瞧，他们又个个整装待发，干什么呢？原来酷虫学校第五十五届运动会开始了。比赛中，体育老师蜈蚣临时增加了一项非常具有争议的比赛项目—装死比赛。蝗虫校长得知此事后暴跳如雷，彩臂金龟老师感到非常的悲痛，学生们却一边倒地支持这种新事物的诞生。快来猜猜比赛的结果，不告诉你，等你来呦！

渐渐地，我不再是害怕虫子的.胆小鬼，慢慢地喜欢上了虫子。走进大自然时，我会停下脚步，看看虫子们的生活百态，想想虫子们的精彩比赛，偶尔也来编个小故事。
狼蛛001的永不服输，虎甲从不惧怕挑战的精神，让我十分惭愧。以前我很喜欢舞蹈，坚持不懈也换来了较好的成绩。但随着兴趣越来越淡，甚至产生了厌倦的心态，最终停下了追逐舞蹈梦的脚步。相反书法就坚持了六年，越写越喜欢。曾经也有一段时间让我差点放弃了书法，老师觉得我写不好，一次又一次地打击我，虽然知道这是“激将法”，还是使我打起了退堂鼓。好在我被狼蛛001的永不服输、虎甲从不惧怕挑战的精神鼓舞着，使我没有像学舞蹈那样选择放弃，而是勇往直前地走下去！
最终，坚持不懈让我“磨”出了一手好字，永不放弃更是让我在一步步成长的阶梯中留下了永恒的足迹。感谢那个有趣的昆虫世界，帮我打开了一扇通往成长的窗户。
