两个分在不同班级的孩子，学习很好，家境也很好，他们都有一个共同的理想：当小丑。相信很多人听到后都很惊讶，两个前途无限的孩子竟然想当小丑？相信大多数人都会觉得这两个孩子完了，太没志气了。在大多数人眼里：想当宇航员、老师、警察、CEO、医生、科学家等等才会是所谓的“好孩子”，有前途。大不了你选个舞者或滑板教练，这都可以，为什么偏偏想当小丑？难道就是想故意把自己扮丑，做着各种滑稽、搞笑的动作来逗大家开心吗？
在一节语文课上，老师问大家的理想：有的说想当军人，将来保家卫国；有的说想当医生，救死扶伤……老师微笑着，分别给予这些孩子鼓励，投去赞许的目光。终于到那位孩子了，他鼓起勇气，望着老师的眼睛说：“我想当小丑！”先是一阵寂静，随即是哄堂大笑。孩子的脸红了，低着头，不敢直视老师的眼睛。一位老师大怒：“胸无大志，竖子不可教也！”而另一位教师却依然微笑这说：“愿你把欢笑带给全世界。”
结局想必很明显：被夸奖的那个孩子越来越自信也越来越努力，最终成为了颇有名气的`小丑，深受人们的欢迎；而反被训斥的孩子，再加上家里人的打击，从此一蹶不振，一事无成，性格也越来越内向。
看，就是两句截然不同的话语，使一个孩子成功，一个孩子失败。不要小看你随口说出的一句话：如果你在关键的时候给予了鼓励，他或许还能重新站起来；如果你在关键的时候还是一味地打击他，他或许就再也爬不起来了。人是需要鼓励的，当然，也需要责骂，这样才能使自己在犯错的时候及时地领悟并改正过来。每一样都是不可缺少的。就比如说著名编剧、作家巴德舒尔伯格，他所写的一篇文章《“精彩极了”和“糟糕透了”》就很好地反映了这一点。想必他能成为著名的作家和编剧，其中的一个因素也就是他童年经常回响在耳畔的“精彩极了”和“糟糕透了”这两句看似平常的话吧。
的确，不同人不同家庭的教育方式不同：有的家长注重的是文凭和成绩，而有的家长注重的是实践和培养独立的能力。开明的家长是不会自作主张，替自己的孩子做出决定的，他们会让孩子自己选择，不管孩子选什么，他们都会去支持自己的孩子；而那些专制的父母就不同了，他们总是喜欢替孩子安排，好像孩子一生下来就必须接受被父母安排好的人生。如果那位严厉的老师能对那位孩子微笑一下，给予肯定，最后还会有这样的结果吗？
现在你信了吧，一句话往往真的能改变一个人的一生。

在您收到信的时候，会想这到底是谁？谁这么用心？我有很多事情想跟您说。在这里我可以大胆地写出来。说真的，当老师不容易，我现在的职业学校的老师有时候都给同学们气哭了（当然是个女的），我想，老师真的不容易。上次五一没见您之前我很怕您一年没见，变老了些，还好，看到您之后，您还是一如即往的年轻，没有任何老了的感觉。知道为何我如此的思念您吗。因为，您是我读书中遇见到的最好的老师，我也不知道其他的老师为什么没有这么亲近的感觉。（您平易近人啊！）也可能是因为初三我才开始懂得了很多。懂得读书人都是幸福人的真正含义。现在回想起来，我初二真是一个小孩子。经常沉迷于电脑游戏，还乱花钱。初三到您手中我开始改变。我第一次改变的就是我不说脏话了。真真正正感觉到长大啦。完全可以控制自己。那时候我一天一天在改变。慢慢坚强的意志力，我在初三的改变是思想的改变。所以我要感谢您，回报您。我觉得，我很荣幸有认识到您这位值得我们学习老师。没有您当我们的班主任可能就没有我那么美好的初三。我认为我们班是当时所以班最幸运的（当您的学生）初三是我读书以来最值得怀念的一年。我喜欢您教育学生的方式，当了您的学生很幸福，也因为这样时间过得飞快。喜欢上您的课，您有一颗宽容的`心，喜欢您管得我们不是很严格（哈哈），不会以成绩来衡量我们，我很少看见您对我们生气，完全没有让我们对您讨厌的地方。对您所讲的哲理我认为很正确。虽然我成绩不怎么样，我也不怎么能听懂您的课。但是我永远记住您说的遇到事情先不要急，还有先付出才有回报。我们还没有付出就想得到回报是不可能的。我最后自己总结出来的就是，我们有付出就一定有回报，只是以什么方式，或许以一种我们不知道的方式回报给我们。这绝对符合物理的能量守恒定律。也就是以前人们所说的，好人有好报。工作思路老师您辛苦了！这是发自内心的感言，虽然现在没有什么机会当着您的面说了，但是我会用行动来证明。
我现在不能回报您，不代表我以后不能回报您。我有能力了之后，我心中不会忘记您。这都有您的功劳，谢谢您，我的好老师。
