说明文语言的准确性是说明事物的先决条件。表示时间、空间、数量、范围、程度、性质、程序等，都要求准确无误。
说明文语言准确，并非一定得用确数，也可以用约数。比如“大约”“左右”“可能”“估计”，这些也同样能体现说明语言的准确性。
说明文的语言在准确的前提下，语言风格既可平平实实，也可生动活泼。如，写作时采用比喻、拟人、对话、自述、讲故事等说明方法都可增强说明语言的生动性。

写说明文，一定要对说明对象有比较深刻的认识，即抓住说明对象的特征。什么是事物的特征呢?特征就是某事物区别于其它事物的象征和标志，即该事物所特有的个性。它往往表现在两个方面：一是外显特征，如事物的颜色、质地、空间位置、形状、温度等;二是内隐性特征，如事物的成因、原理、变化过程、内部结构、习性、性能、风格等方面。
怎样把握事物的特征呢?必须从以下几个方面着手。
一要认真观察。通过细致、反复、深刻的观察，用眼、耳、口、鼻、体、肤等感觉器官，对要说明的事物进行看、听、尝、嗅、触等，必要时，还可以做实验，以准确、全面地把握事物的特征。二要深入思考。将说明对象和类似的事物进行多方面比较，对掌握的在关信息进行筛选，深入分析其异同，抓住了“异处”，就把握了该事物的特征，也就抓住了说明的重点。三要重视积累、扩大生活视野，阅读范围，不断丰富知识，积累写作材料，注意间接经验的.获得，提高理性认识水平。

好的文章，往往是留不尽之意在文字之间，达到“言有尽而意无穷”的效果。为了增添文章的艺术魅力，给读者以想象回味的余地，议论文的结尾也可运用含蓄委婉的手法，或托物言志，或含蓄议论，或借助省略号等方法，使结尾蕴涵丰厚，寓意深远，给人以无尽的遐想或深刻的启迪。

①蝶儿飞走，是蜡烛打扰了它的好梦。那么蜡烛随着时间流动的熄灭，飞走的蝶儿，又有谁敢说，它不会再飞回来呢？喧嚣退后，返璞归真。蝶儿飞走，又飞回……那该是极美丽的`芳草遍地，落英缤纷。（江苏考生《蝶儿飞走》）
②渐渐地孩子们在主动和被动两种情况下与童真这个概念越来越远。童真渐渐消逝。我们不禁想问童真哪里去了？而它没有回答。只见一个孩子愈走愈远，最后只留下一个模糊的身影！（浙江考生《消逝的童真》）

【点评】例①结尾用散文化的笔调，借景传情，含蓄隽永；例②对设问没有直接作答，而是顾左右而言他，以“愈走愈远的孩子留下模糊身影”作结，含蓄地表明自己对现实中童真日渐消逝的忧患和无奈；例③借“天山雪莲”托物传情，以省略号作结，意蕴丰富，委婉地表达自己对“大师能够在静默中生长”的企盼。
