有一位老人葛爷爷因为与儿子有误会二十多年不来往，后来和他再婚的老太太死后，老太太的儿女也就是他的养子女把他赶出了房子，他无家可归，去了关山老人院找一个朋友老周帮忙找个地方住下，老人只带了个旅行箱和一盆兰花，那花盆是老太太和他的纪念物，到哪他都带着，这是他对老太太的精神寄托，他在院长和老周的帮助下住进养老院，在哪里他们很空虚，老周常常想办法给老人们带去快乐，可谁也不知道乐观的老周是一个癌症晚期患者，他们自娱自乐，后来几个老人想到天津表演节目，尽管遭到院长和家人的反对，但老周还是想尽办法带老人们背着院长和家人悄悄离开了，脱离了那个枯燥的养老院，他们一路开着车欢声笑语，后来家人和院长知道后立刻追赶，当追到以后老人们一番推心置腹的.话让院长同意带他们去演出，到达演出地点开始表演了，表演的很成功，获得大家对老人的尊敬，老周也不行了，他的病发作了，他的临终愿望就是看到大海，最后老葛爷爷和同伴们帮他完成遗愿，老葛爷爷和他的儿子孙子也解除了多年误会。
我想对大家说的是，乘老人身体健康活着的时候给他们多些关爱，哪怕你每天陪他们说说话，吃顿饭都是给他们最好安慰！老人们不缺钱，缺的是家人的关心和社会的尊敬，他们也希望有一片属于自己的天空，不希望在养老院等死！请善待身边每一位老人，因为有一天你也会老去！
