暑假里的一天，我正在津津有味地看电视，妈妈走过来对我说：“灿灿，你最近总是看电视，要么就是玩电脑、睡懒觉。再这样下去，只会出现肥胖、近视。为了你的健康，从明天起，给你有尝打杂。怎么样？”我听了后高兴地跳了起来，连忙问道：“打什么杂？”妈妈说：“做擦桌子、拖地、洗衣服等家务活，每次做的好就给零用钱。”“真是喜从天降呀！”我兴奋地喊。
第二天早晨，我早早地起来，先叠好被子，然后拖地。吃过早饭后，我主动洗碗，我拎起一只碗，在水龙头上马马虎虎地冲了一遍，接着一个又一个的碗很快就洗好了。我心里美滋滋的想，打杂也没有什么难得，跑到妈妈面前说：“老妈，快给工钱吧。”妈妈疑惑地说：“我得先验收。”她看了我叠的被子，又看看了我拖的地说：“基本合格。”然后我跟妈妈来到厨房，顿时，妈妈说：“你自己看看这些碗，有的还有油垢呢，再瞧瞧这个碗，米粒还在上面，要想拿到工钱，得返工，做任何事都不能马虎呀。”于是我红着脸，重新洗起碗来，我先挤了点洗洁净在盆里，然后倒了热水，又掺了点冷水小心翼翼的洗了起来。“当！”，天那，一只碗溜出了手，碎了。妈妈听见了声音走了过来说：“没事的，宝贝，岁岁（碎碎）平安。不过，你今天的工钱可要扣掉一部分拉。”我伤心的点点头，接下来，我更加小心地洗好了剩下的碗。
洗好后，妈妈走到我面前拿出2元钱微笑着说：“怎么样？打杂不容易吧？做任何事都不能马虎。”我接过钱，虽然没有拿到预期的那么多，但心里非常高兴。从那以后，我每次打杂都很认真，再也不敢怠慢。
现在，打杂已经存了一些零用钱，但是，每次要用时，我都告诫自己：要爱劳动，钱是来之不易的。

放暑假了，期待已久的日子终于来到，有两个多月的时间，怎么打发呢？听一些同学说她们要去打工，于是我也决定加人打工行列，到社会上见识一下。
第一次出来找工作，什么都不懂。多亏朋友指引，我们买来一份报纸，在广告栏搜索一番，看准几项适合的工作，然后逐——去试。试的笫一份I作是百货公司售货员。在烈日下去找那间公司，但结果是扫兴而回——负责人说我们没，不招。去见的笫二份工作是餐厅侍应，这份工作工资挺诱人，每月有3000多元。结果呢，与上次没什么两样，又是无功而回，人家说我们沒有工作经验，也不请。东家不靖奔西家，我们就不信找不到——份工作。
笫二天，我们继续出发，但这次不是按报纸去找，而是到街上去碰，我们不信走遍东莞的街会找不到——份工作。
那天虽是闷热难耐，而我们却斗志高昂，信心十足。结果呢？依然是不行！不行！不要紧，好的工作在笤着我们呢！笫六份。笫七份……——连见了十多份工作，有些人信心开始动摇，斗志开始松懈。想不到笫一次出来找工作，就遇到重重困难，真让我们切身体会到生活的艰难了。
由于连连失败，好几个伙伴决定放弃找工作的念头，只剩下我和另一个斗志未泯的人了。几日来的奔波，腿累细了，皮肤晒黑了。常言道，皇天不负有心人。终于，我们找到了一份在制衣厂当杂工的工作。虽然工资低，每天仅有60元，但找工的愿望总算实现了。

年的脚步越来越近，年的滋味也越来越浓。一转眼就到了大年三十。这一天，爸爸妈妈都在忙着炸年货，而家里的卫生却还是一塌糊涂。爸爸看看无所事事的我们，说：“我现在正式聘请两位打扫卫生，事成之后有工资。”我和哥哥转念一想：既能为家里打扫卫生，又能赚钱。何乐而不为呢？于是我们高兴地答应了。
我负责的是门和厕所。哥哥负责的是窗和阳台。门当然不能马虎。必须先用湿抹布擦一遍，再用干报纸擦一遍。大冬天弄得身上湿湿的，再被冷风一吹可不好受。我从门的上面擦到门的下面，不料却越擦越脏。原来是门上面的灰尘与水汇成水流又流到了门的下面。无奈我只好用湿抹布一点一点的擦干净。擦了好几遍，爸爸都说不行。直到我露出了不耐烦的神情。爸爸才说勉强可以。我晕，什么叫勉强可以。我正要争辩几句。他却说：“快干吧，还有厕所等着你。”
厕所主要是擦瓷砖。一开始，我以为很简单。用抹布一擦就行。爸爸却找茬说：“看这有污渍，不行，管子没刷好，这儿怎么这么脏啊？”无奈的我只好继续努力。
哦，遇到一块难去的污垢。用抹布擦，去不掉。用清洁布擦，去不掉。用钢丝球擦，咦，污垢怎么没有了呢？在一旁监都的爸爸沉不住气了，说：“只是被钢丝球上的洗洁精遮住了，如果再不认真工作，小心工资全部扣完。”听到这，我又抖擞精神，再次投入到我这伟大的事业中。
干完工作之后。到了最令人期待的发工资的时刻。爸爸做总结说：“两位同志在干活的时候有一些不走心，但没有功劳也有苦劳。所以一人工资100。”我双手接过了我的工钱，感到格外沉重。这次打工，让我明白了金钱的来之不易。

actually i like swimming and think nothing is more refreshing than a swim. in the summer vacation that has just ended i went swimming many times with my classmates and we all had a good time. this summer vacation, however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. as a second-year senior student i had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were only a year away. in other words, i must find time to study, too.
so i divided my time between work and play during the summer vacation and derived much benefit from this arrangement.
