Father had a family of sons who were perpetually quarrelling among themselves. 中国人的吵闹在外国也是出名的。据说在国庆节期间，美国把所有的公园都关闭了。原来因中国人太吵了，他们放假来美国旅游肯定也吵，所以美国不愿意接待中国人，于是就关闭所有公园。听到这个消息后，我心头一震，突然感到很没面子。一个国人由于自己的陋习遭到别国反击，其威力比各种威力都要大，这实实在在地体现出民族的陋习对一个民族的影响。我记得一位前中山大学的.教授讲了一件他小时候的事：在他12岁时被因家派到前苏联进行少先队友好访问。吃饭的时候，他与一群年龄与自己相仿的人喝稀饭，结果他直接对着稀饭“嗖——”地喝了一口。当他抬起头时，发现四周的小孩都以一种异样的眼神看着自己，想笑去努力忍住自己。他感到很奇怪，便问原因，他们回答说自己喝稀饭发出的声音很大，很奇怪。如今，这位年方九十的老人对自己当时的情景仍牢记在心，并警告了当时在场的349名学生。看来，文明素质是我们中国最缺乏的。
我的综合实践老师曾讲过一个例子：2005年五．一黄金周，有报道称北京天安门广场产生了19吨垃圾，相当于近十辆货车所承载的重量。当时，我的综合老师认为这纯粹是一个夸张的说法。2007年，也就是北京奥运会的前一年，他一家三口与另一家一行七个人到北京游玩。当时他们要看升旗仪式，坐了一辆的士，到了天安门广场附近时，车停了下来，两个人把车门打开，请他们下车，并每人给了一面小国旗。当综合老师正为北京的变化而感叹时，那两个人却开始伸手要钱：“一面小国旗5元，开两次车门各5元。”这句话给他们当头一棒，仿佛泼了一盆冷水，北京的变化难道就是如此？就这样，他们因为对方的一点点礼仪就花了45元，心里很不舒服。到天安门广场看升旗仪式时，每个人都显得那么严肃，那么庄重。当鲜艳的五星红旗升起最顶端时，人们便陆续离开，手中的小红旗纷纷撒落一地，不一会儿就布满了整个广场。综合老师形容是“大红旗登顶，小红旗落下”，他说，平时垃圾都那么多，那19吨垃圾也就不奇怪了。我想起老师形容的“大红旗登顶，小红旗落下”，心里很不是滋味，难道我们民族的文明就是这样的？
文明，本该是我们中国传承的精神，但如今却随着历史的洗刷慢慢逝去。我们应该努力地发扬这种伟大的精神，不要让他成为历史。也许，若干年后，中国仅存的一位有意识的人在呼唤：“我们的文明哪里去了？”
