森林里贴出一张通知：订于月亮很圆很圆的晚上，举办快乐晚会，欢迎大家参加。
大象看见了：“噢，开快乐晚会，唱歌很快乐，跳舞很快乐。唱歌跳舞是小动物的事，我可不参加。这样吧，我去帮他们布置会场吧。”大象想到这里，就去为晚会做准备了。
大象把河边的草地打扫得干干净净，拔去杂草，搭起架子，挂上彩纸，还在四周种上了鲜花。他整整忙了两天，看看布置一新的草地，很满意，同时也感到很疲劳，便打了一个呵欠，躺下来睡着了。
晚上，月亮出来了，很圆很圆。噢!快乐晚会要在今夜举行。小动物们穿着漂亮的服装，纷纷来到小河边。
呀!他们发现大象睡着了。“得让他醒来，否则就不能参加晚会了。”小白兔着急地说。
“大象还没换衣服，他身上多脏。”松鼠说。
小动物们急坏了，现在到哪儿去为大象找一件特别大的服装呢。
“动动脑筋，我们会有办法的。”小狐狸边说边用他那毛茸茸的大尾巴，掸去大象身上的泥土。大象呼噜噜地睡得正香。
“我们为大象准备帽子。”小鸭们嘎嘎叫着，下河摘荷叶，扎一扎，把它戴在大象头上，大象还是睡得很香。
“我们为大象准备衣服。”小鸟飞进森林，衔来一片片绿叶，把它贴在大象身上，大象仍然没有醒。
小动物们商量得喊醒他了，就齐声大喊：“大象大象快醒来，晚会就要开始啦1”
大象扇扇大耳朵，醒了。看看四周，是一群小动物;瞧瞧天上，圆圆的月亮正挂在当空。噢，今晚要开快乐晚会的呀。
“大象，你穿得这么漂亮，一定准备了很精彩的节目。”小动物们调皮地问。
大象看看自己身上，果然穿戴得很漂亮。啊，一定是小动物们帮他准备的。
“我不会演节目。”大象不安地说。
“没关系，和我们一起跳舞吧。”小动物们说，“只要你跳得开心，感到快乐就行，谁也不会笑话你的。”
大象真的和小动物们跳起来了，他扭着粗笨的身子，感到很别扭，可心里却很快乐。

“狼伯伯，求求你，在吃掉我以前，能否吹个笛子给我听呢?”
“什么?吹笛子做什么呢?”

“该不会打算边跳舞边溜走吧!”
“不会、不会，我绝不会逃走!”
“好吧!我就吹一曲吧!”
狼吹起笛子，小羊配着调子跳舞，跳得很可爱。
牧羊人听到笛声，跑了过来。
“啊!是狼!”
牧羊人愤怒的将狼抓住，救了小羊。
狼非常的懊悔。
“上当啦!那是小羊向牧羊人求救的信号啊!”

后来盗贼追了上来，情况十分危急。为了让船驶得更快，王郎又想把那个人扔下。
华歆说：“我当初考虑到情况紧急，所以拒绝了他。你刚才答应了他的请求，带他上船，现在怎么能把他扔下不管呢?”于是，华歆就带着那个人一起逃难。
世上的人便拿这件事来评定华歆和王郎二人道德的'优劣。

从前有只狐狸向狼谈起人的力量，说没有动物能抵挡得了，所以他认为所有动物都必须施展计谋才能保护自己。可狼回答说：“假如我有机会碰到一个人，我就扑上去让他无法抵挡。”
狐狸说：“我可以帮你碰到人啊。明早你早点来我家，我把他指给你看。”
第二天，狼很早就来了，狐狸带它来到猎人每天的必经之路。
他们碰到的第一个人是个退役老兵，狼问：“那是个人吗?”
“不是，”狐狸回答，“他以前是。”
接着他们遇到一个去上学的小男孩。
“那是个人吗?”狼又问。
“不是，”狐狸回答说，“他将来是。”
最后一个猎人朝它们走来，他肩上扛着双筒猎枪，腰间还插着一把猎刀，狐狸对狼说：“那个就是人，你该朝他扑过去，我可是要回我洞里去了。”
于是狼朝猎人冲了过去。猎人一看说：“真可惜我没装上子弹，而是散弹。”
他瞄准狼的脸开了一枪。
狼疼得一阵痉挛，可还是没被吓倒，又朝猎人冲了过去。猎人又开了一枪。
狼忍着巨痛扑向猎人，没想到猎人抽出猎刀左右开弓地在狼身上划了几道口子。狼鲜血四溅，嚎叫着逃到狐狸那里去了。
“狼兄弟，” 狐狸说，“和人相处怎么样?”
“哈!”狼回答说，“我从没想到人的力量会这么大!他先是从肩上取下一根棍子，朝里面吹了一口气，就有什么东西飞到我脸上，痒得我要命;接着他又吹了一次，就有东西飞到我鼻子周围，像下了一阵雹子。当我靠近他时，他从身上抽出一根白得发亮的肋骨狠狠地打我，几乎把我打死在那里。”
狐狸说：“你这个吹牛大王，谁让你把话说得太大了，自己连退路都没有了呢。”
