一天，狮子饿了，就跑到森林里小动物多的地方站着，等待小动物们自投罗网。
小动物们看见狮子在那里，早被吓得四散逃窜。这时，一只老虎在此路过，看见狮子亲切地说：“老兄，怎么了?怎么站在这里呢?狮子有气无力地说：“我饿了，来找些吃的，我正等小动物们呢。”老虎听了哈哈大笑，对狮子说：“你站在这里，小动物们看见你，早就吓跑了，谁敢在你面前露面?你应该躲在草丛后面，等他们来时，出其不意、迅猛出击!还愁没有美食么?”
可狮子却不以为然，老虎只好走了。时间一天天过去了，一只小动物也没在它面前露面。最后，可怜的狮子被饿死了。这个故事告诉我们，做事要动脑，要思考，不能不听劝告而一意孤行，如果这样，付出沉重代价的将会是自己。

“那我们出去看看吧!”老二想了一个一举两得的办法，他得意洋洋的说。
说着他们走出了洞，离猫有一段距离。只听猫嘴里不停地念叨着：“善哉善哉。”说着睁开眼睛扫了一眼老鼠兄弟，又合上眼睛说：“出家人不吃荤，只吃素食。”
老大听了，放松了警惕，说：“我相信：佛是绝对不会骗我们的，因为妄语(乱说不实在的话骗人是佛门大戒，佛也是因为不妄语，才可以修成佛的。所以古人说：‘佛言不信，何言可信?’我们走过去和猫交个朋友吧!说不定以后偷东西，可以帮我们开门，拿东西呢!”
老二赞同了老大的说法，大步流星的走到猫身边说：“猫大哥，咱们交个朋友吧!”
猫说：“好啊!”他停了停，问：“朋友有难应当互相帮助，对吗?”
“是呀!”
“我现在需要你帮助，我的肚子饿了!”
话说着，就把老鼠按住了，老鼠兄弟悲伤地说：“江山易改，本性难移，我们要时刻提高警惕性，不要被表面现象所迷惑，要认清本质!”
猫奸笑着说：你们天天呆在洞里，今天总算把你们引出来了。
猫津津有味地吃掉了老鼠。

the summer vacation had come round again. i was happy that i could forget about school at least for a while. lest i fool around all through this summer vacation, i made a plan as to how to spend it. first, i thought i should go over all those things my teachers taught in the previous term so that i could have a better understanding of them.
then i thought i should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running and rowing, to keep me physically strong. it stood to reason that with such a good plan i should make the best of my vacation time. i did, because i lived up to what i had planned.

花园里有一棵花树，花树上的一片叶子后面，住着小毛毛虫，花树下的草丛里住着小蜗牛，虽然离得有些远，可他们俩却是关系不错的好朋友呢。
清晨，两个好朋友一起采露珠喝。
中午，他们就躲在花树中间的叶子下聊天啃叶子。
晚上，他们就躺在最高的叶子上，一起看星星。
就这样，喝呀、吃啊，小蜗牛变成了大蜗牛，小毛毛虫也变成一只大毛毛虫啦。
有一天，大蜗牛背着大大的壳又去找大毛毛虫玩，他慢吞吞地走了很久，才来到大毛毛虫的家。
“大毛毛虫，出来玩啊——”还没走到大毛毛虫的家门口，大蜗牛就开始大声嘁。
没有人回答!
咦?大毛毛虫的家门口挂着一个好圆好圆、好大好大、好白好白的茧子。
“大毛毛虫，你在里面吗?”大蜗牛围着茧转了几圈。
还是没有人回答!
“也许大毛毛虫出远门了。”大蜗牛嘀咕着回家了。
现在，没有大毛毛虫陪他采露珠、聊天和啃叶子——大蜗牛觉得日子过得还真是没意思呢，他总是想，也许大毛毛虫明天就回家了，于是，他天天都会爬上高高的花树去看看。
一天过去了，一星期过去了，一个月过去了，大蜗牛觉得时间过去了好久好久——
这天，大蜗牛又来到大毛毛虫的家门口。
又圆又大又白的茧上破了一个小洞!大蜗牛把头伸进去瞅了瞅：“奇怪，什么都没有?”
“你在找我吗?”身后，传来一个轻柔的声音。
大蜗牛转过身，哇!一只美丽的蝴蝶正舞动着翅膀冲他微笑着。
“你是?”大蜗牛问。
“我是你的好朋友毛毛虫啊!”蝴蝶说，“就是陪你一起采露珠、一起聊天，一起啃叶子吃的'小毛毛虫，我们喝呀吃呀，后来我变成了大毛毛虫，你变成了大蜗牛——”
即使大毛毛虫变成了蝴蝶，即使不能一起采露珠喝，即使不能一起啃叶子，即使不能躺在一起看星星，但大毛毛虫，哦不!大蝴蝶仍然是自己最好的好朋友，想到这里，大蜗牛甜甜地笑了：“大毛毛虫，你可真棒!”

summer can be very hot in southern taiwan where the temperature usually goes up to 32"c or more. because of the heat it is a trying experience to go to school or do anything else in a place that is not air-conditioned. also because of this i stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and only occasionally go to the beach to plunge myself into the cool water as a way to keep my body less sticky.
actually i like swimming and think nothing is more refreshing than a swim. in the summer vacation that has just ended i went swimming many times with my classmates and we all had a good time. this summer vacation, however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. as a second-year senior student i had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were only a year away. in other words, i must find time to study, too.
so i divided my time between work and play during the summer vacation and derived much benefit from this arrangement.
