When you look back on yourself in the past – 10, 20, 30 or more years ago – it’s surprising to see how much you have changed over time. Your experiences, your friends, your family and your work have all shaped who you are right now. But where will you be in another few years? How will you have changed? Reflective writing in your journal is an excellent way to think about what you want out of the future.

Just imagine writing a letter to your future self 5 years from now, then opening it at that exact moment 5 years down the road to see how much of it resonated with you. It is a useful supplementary tool to be used in goal achievement, because when you write the letter to your future self, it helps crystallize exactly how you anticipate yourself to become at that specific moment down the road.

As you read the letter in the future, you can assess how many things match up (or not vs. your expectations in the past and think about why that’s the case. Often times, the goals we set and our goal achievement process are subjected to a lot of changes along the way, due to varying obstacles, unanticipated circumstances and changing priorities. The letter gives you a macro-view of your initial vision and lets you recognize how your current vision differs from the past.

今天晚上我看了一个感人的短片，看完后让我挥泪如雨。这部短片主要讲了一个大学生从小由他妈妈照顾她，他什么事情也不干。他妈妈说什么时候能吃到你做的饭就心满意足了，他孩子说行等你老了我天天给你做。有一天孩子做起了饭，他想等妈妈来了肯定很高兴，就在他妈妈上楼的时侯，晕倒了没有抢救成功去世了。
在这个短片中最后一句话是“当你在等待以后，就已经失去永远”这句话在短片里就是说，当你的家人四肢健，没有任何病的时候。你必须珍惜，要为他们付出，抓紧时间，不要说等你们老了以后我就对你怎样怎样的好，到那时候一切就晚了。
看完了这个短片让我想起里一件事，在我8岁那年我过生日，我二姨送我了一只小白兔，我非常高兴。养了由三个星期直到有一天我妈妈让我给他送白菜，我说前两天刚送过，等他吃完了再送吧。第二天，我妈妈又催我给小白兔送白菜，我又拖，拖三天了。到最后我才给它送白菜，我一到楼顶叫了一声：“小兔子！”没动静！一般他就会跑过来。今天怎么会是这样，我的脑海不禁浮出了可怕的遐想，我嘴里一遍又一遍的说：“不可能的，不可能的”我找了又找最后在是石板处找到了它，它浑身冷冰冰的眼睛睁得很大，里面还有泪光。这是我意识到它死了。我不禁后悔到如果我早一点给他送白菜的话，它就不会死了。
朋友！我们要铭记“当你在等以后，就已经失去了永远”这句话的含义。当你的家人在的时候，你要珍惜，否则将要后悔一辈子。

I hope you're married to the man of your dreams. The man of mine is Gwynn. He is originally from South Africa (another place I wish to visit.
You'll probably have two children of your own – a girl(Michaela Anne and a boy (name yet to be decided.If everything goes according to plan you'll be living in Australia in a big house in a small town outside of a big city with a lot of land, a dog, Gwynn and your two beautiful children. Hopefully you have a career in the medical field, maybe doing research in genetics. Gwynn will be a computer programmer and you will be doing alright for yourselves.
However, if things don't go according to plan for you, I wish you all the love, happiness and joy in the world and don't settle for anything less than the best since that is absolutely what you deserve.

今天刚刚上课的时候，我还在为失去了一节实践课而愤愤不平。但是，当老师让我们看了一部叫做《天堂的午餐》的短片后，一切不满都消失了，只剩下一份感动和来自于自己的谴责。
这是一部高三学生所拍的短片，只有六分钟，虽然简短，但留给我的是六十天也学不来的道理。
影片一开始，讲诉的是一个高三学生在厨房做饭的场景，我还纳闷，这有哪么好看吗？但是当镜头转向一位老母亲在拖地，那个孩子在声声埋怨时，我似乎明白了几分。这时镜头又变了，在公园里，那位母亲对儿子问道：“你说我什么是候才能吃到你给妈做的饭呀？”“哦，我明白了！”我在心中暗暗念到，“这是儿子在为母亲完成心愿呀！那么，现在就差母亲没出场了！”很快，十二点到了，母亲下班回来了，儿子一眼也没看母亲，只是在拼命的吃饭，慢慢地，吃饭的速度掉了下来。儿子渐渐将目光转向母亲，看了短暂的一眼，便掩面痛哭起来……再看母亲，那只是张遗像。原来，刚刚的那些都是自己的回忆，母亲终于吃上了儿子做的饭，纵然是在天堂……
看到这里，原本热闹的教师也变得寂静无声，许多人的泪水早在眼边打转转了。我忍住在眼边的泪水，咬紧牙关，看完了最后一句话，这话一直在我的脑海中挥之不去：“当你还在等待以后，却已失去永远……”
看到这里，我想起了我的父母。打开记忆的闸门，我发现：他们也不是和片中的母亲一样吗？生我养我，无私地奉献自己的青春，却得不到一点回报。有时我还甚至因为他们这里没做好，那里每做好而埋怨再三，因为得不到零用钱而与其斗嘴，因为他们的一点疏忽，一些要求表现出十分的不满。
会想起这一切，我突然后悔了，我为什么要这样做？他们养育了我这么多年，难道有比这更难的吗？
回家看着自己的爸妈，突然感觉特别难过，我的父母给了我多少爱和温暖？而我给了他们什么？所以我决定，一定要对他们好点，让他们得到一切温暖和关怀。在这一切都没化成回忆之前好好对待这一切，包括自己……

沿着弯弯曲曲的小巷，走到了我学校的大门前。这时，广播总会响起这一首歌：阳光一小，就像亲妈妈一样。
嫩芽需要沃土，蝴蝶喜欢花丛;鸟儿梦想着天空，梦想着天空。南城阳光一小，南城阳光一小······
唱到这儿，你应该知道，我的学校，就是阳光一小了吧!
我哼着小调，背着书包，轻松愉快地走进学校，进了教室。
看哪!那桌椅摆的是多么整齐呀，不管是很横着看，还是竖着看，都是那么直;看哪!那玻璃擦得是多么干净，亮得连人影儿都能看见;看哪!那地板扫的是多么光滑。进了教室中，不精神的人就变得精神，精神的人就变得更精神了，这教室显得这么舒适，如果同学们不精神的话，这么能衬托起教室呢?
