“嗨，日子可怎么过啊，自从多了两个孩子以后，我们家的生活过得更艰苦了。”桑娜摇摇头，长叹了一口气。丈夫从早忙到晚，每天早晨4点就起床开着小破船，拿着渔网去捕鱼，可是很少有机会捕到鱼。捕到鱼卖的可怜叮叮的一点钱，也只够孩子吃饭的钱，以前吃的黑面包，现在连面粉也没有了，恐怕连黑面包也吃不上了。丈夫越来越虚弱，身体大不如以前。“丈夫可是全家的顶柱啊，如果丈夫再出点事儿，我们全家可怎么过啊！”“煤也没有了，眼看就要过冬了，我们连煤球也没了。”
桑娜沉思着坐在床前，想着孩子们的将来。突然，一股清凉的海风飘进屋里，一个三十多岁的女人，和一个六七岁的小女孩站在门口，望着桑娜。桑拿连忙把她们请进屋，她们娘俩告诉桑拿说：“我们是从北村来的，因为那里闹洪水，我们被洪流推到这里，还好，感谢上帝，孩子总算没事。”桑娜对她们说：“你们来我家做什么？是要借东西吗？”“是的。”她们娘俩小声的说。“可是，我们已经没有可以借的东西了。”“不，我们要的东西你一定有，我们要和你们住在一起行吗？”“这倒可以。”
晚上，矮小的床上多了两个人，等到北村的洪水退后，她们娘俩回到了家里。可是，桑娜还在为孩子的事发愁，“怎么办才好，我们已经没有食物，没有煤块了呀！”正在桑拿苦苦深思的时候，那娘俩突然出现了，她们手里提着小半袋面粉和一袋子煤块……

“你瞧，他们在这里啦。”桑拿拉开了帐子。
渔夫看到了这两个可爱的小孩子，心里又是担忧，有是欢喜，但有时因为怕自己养不活这两个孩子，欢喜是因为家里添加了一份幸福。
早晨醒来，桑娜在一个简陋的桌子上摆了一些黑面包，因为丈夫昨天打鱼时，因有风暴一无所获。过了一会儿，丈夫准备出海大鱼了，桑娜知道了赶紧跑到丈夫身旁说：“一定要小心啊！我和孩子们等你回来。”丈夫说：“不用担心，我一定会平安回来的。”
天空上的太阳照射着海面，多么温暖啊！海面上波涛起伏，几只海鸥在天上自由飞翔，好像在寻找这天空的尽头。桑娜的孩子都醒了，那两个黄头发的孩子也醒了，这他两个孩子醒来就哇哇大叫，桑娜把所有的黑面包拿到孩子们面前，把最好的两块给了正在哭的两个小孩，然后分了其他面包，这两个孩子渐渐停止了哭泣开始吃面包，桑娜坐在板凳上眼睛里的泪珠在眼眶里打转，看着孩子们吃面包。
到了下午，桑娜的丈夫回来了，桑娜问：“怎么这么早就回来了？”渔夫高兴的说：“今天大丰收了，我打到了许多美味的.鱼！”桑娜高兴的说：“真的吗？孩子们有肉吃了。”那两个孩子已经容到了这个大家庭，他同孩子们在沙滩上玩啥子呢！桑娜很高兴。
今天真是一个美好的一天。

the summer vacation had come round again. i was happy that i could forget about school at least for a while. lest i fool around all through this summer vacation, i made a plan as to how to spend it. first, i thought i should go over all those things my teachers taught in the previous term so that i could have a better understanding of them.
then i thought i should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running and rowing, to keep me physically strong. it stood to reason that with such a good plan i should make the best of my vacation time. i did, because i lived up to what i had planned.
