因为，古人云：金玉其外，败絮如其中。不要因为外表非常的好看，就断定这个人有学问。比如枕头，看起来，这个枕头的样子很好看，但里面却都是败絮一团。人也是一样，这个人长的很好看，可她的学文却是非常窄浅。
古人说过，人不可貌相，海水不可斗量。比如这个人她长的.非常丑陋，但她的学问却非常广。大海看起来非常平常，就是海水。但你却不知道大海的底部是多么丰富。所以说不能以貌取人。
古人还说，人不可以长短高矮论人品。不是哪个人长的高，长的矮，腿长的长，腿长的短，就怎么样。就像花生一样，等到成熟了，也不能立刻分辨出她有没有果实，必须挖起来才知道。
