教学例5时，我出示情境图后引导学生一滴血液中含有：5000000个红细胞；含有10000个白细胞。 ⑴读出数看看这两个数有什么特点？⑵你有没有办法使别人一看到这个数就能使学生很快就能读出这个数吗？
（生1：给数分级。生2：把后面的四个0用东西盖死。生3：把4个0去掉，换成一个万字）
我问学生3，你是怎么想出这种办法的，他说：“我是看到报纸上就有这样的数。”别的同学也有附和说，我也看到过。接下来再讲例6时，再让学生重点体验用“四舍五入”法将非整万数数省略万位后面的尾数改写成以“万”作单位的数比较得到的近似数比较接近准确数后，做练习巩固新知，让学生把非整万的数省略万位后面的尾数，用万作单位求近似数。
当练习第18页第8题时，题目要求：先写出横线上的数，再求近似数（省略万位后面的尾数）并没有要求用万作单位。
北京大钏寺的一口古钟上有二十万零一百八十四个汉字。写作：200184。省略万位后面的尾数求近似数是：生5： 20万。生6：200000。
当时，我在备课时就只想到答案20万。这时我问学生6，你为什么不把个级上的数换成万呢？学生作到：题目中并没有要求用万作单位。其它同学也点头说：“是”。我就又启发说：“你们比较一下生5和生6两个答案那个表达更简洁呢？试图把答案统一成20万. 学生5说：“答案是20万比200000简单一些，但是从题目要求来看并没有要求必须用“万”作单位。我无言以对。只好强行命令到：题目没有要求也要选择简单的方法写，以后再遇到这种情况就要用“万” 作单位来写。学生看了看我，无奈的坐到位上。从学生的表情来看，学生并没有得到满意的说法。课后，我一至在思考这个问题。
