有这样一幅漫画：一青年挖井找水，挖了四五个深浅不一的坑，没有出水，正要挖新的“井”。画面下部的文字反映了他的心思：这下面没有水，再换个地方挖。而事实并非如此，那些“井”再深挖一些，就到了丰富的水源了。
这幅画使我深思：青年找不到水，是因为他不肯在一个地方持之以恒地挖下去，结果白费了气力。它告诉我们一个哲理：要想找到成功之源，除了肯花力气外，还要目标专一，持之以恒，坚持不懈，浅尝辄止者是不会成功的。
我国清代学者王国维曾总结了学习的三个境界。其一为志存高远，“昨夜西风凋碧树，独上高楼，望断天涯路”;其二为持之以恒，“衣带渐宽终不悔，为伊消得人憔悴”;其三为成功境界，“蓦然回首，那人却在灯火阑珊处”。古代思想家荀况也说过：“锲而舍之，朽木不折;锲而不舍，金石可镂。”这些话都说明了目标专一和持之以恒是成功的必由之路。
许多成功的例子证明了这确是一条必由之路。大科学家欧立希立志制出一种药剂，经过长期不懈的努力，在失败了几百次之后，终于制出了药剂六六六。我国数学家陈景润在少年时就立志摘下数学王国的宝石――哥德巴赫猜想。他勤奋钻研，算纸用了几麻袋，艰难困苦，玉汝于成，终于获得了重大成果。这样的例子真是俯拾皆是，不胜枚举。
反之，学习或工作上的浅尝辄止，永远不会带来成功，只能浪费时间，白花气力，到头来“空悲切”一场。记得有个相声曾讽刺这种人，他们这山望着那山高，今天想当画家，明天想当音乐家，后天又想当军事家，最后只能当呆在家里空发议论的“坐家”。
那找水的青年，只要他回到原地继续挖完那些未完成的井，或者到新地方后持之以恒地挖下去，他一定能找到水源。而在学习上、工作中，不管你是否犯过浅尝辄止的错误，只要你现在安下心来，认定一个正确的目标，专一而不懈地努力，你就一定会获得成功。科学路上无捷径，专一不懈见成功。
