如上文所说，不完美构成了生活。如若生活没有了不完美呢？恐怕难以想象。人人都是完美的，事事都是完美的，物物都是完美的。人们无需努力，因为生活已然完美。在此后，人们便会失去对生活的希望，生活已经丢失了它本身存在的意义。人们就会贪图享乐，《孟子》中载：“生于忧患，死于安乐”，其此之谓乎。这可能就关系于人类的消亡了。从此看，完美可能造成消亡，生活中确实需要不完美。而又从侧面看，如果人们贪图享乐，便已然又存在了不完美，因为人们缺少了完美的心态。所以，完美的生活不存在。
学术同样如此。人类的知识体系始终不完整，所以人类在不断探索，逐渐完善。不完美的知识产生了讨论，产生了争议，产生了猜想，产生了探索。从此中，不完美激发了人们的探索精神和想象力。不完美在学术上同样存在意义。
法国卢浮宫，有一尊雕像。那是美神维纳斯。看着断臂的维娜斯，我有点遗憾。有人曾告诉我，曾经有好多个方案，为雕像恢复原貌，最后发现，没有一个完整的，比残缺的更美。我恍然大悟：原来这个世界游戏的规则设计者，也就是那位隐身的造物者，根本就没有设计“完美”。生活需要不完美。
