是写信人对收信人的称呼用语。位置在信内地址下方一、二行的地方，从该行的顶格写起，在称呼后面一般用逗号（英国式），也可以用冒号（美国式）。
（1）写给亲人、亲戚和关系密切的朋友时，用dear或my dear再加上表示亲属关系的称呼或直称其名（这里指名字，不是姓氏）。例如：my dear father，dear tom等。
（2）写给公务上的信函用dear madam，dear sir或gentleman（gentlemen）。注意：dear纯属公务上往来的客气形式。gentlemen总是以复数形式出现，前不加dear，是dear sir的复数形式。
（3）写给收信人的信，也可用头衔、职位、职称、学位等再加姓氏或姓氏和名字。例如：dear prof. tim scales, dear dr.john smith。

想起军训拉，说实话，从那回来，我只有唯一的一个感受，不是累，是我的脚指头就要废了，我的脚跟着我真可怜。我也觉得自己思想挺特别的，凡正常人有这样的吗？
然后就是稀里糊涂的跟你成了朋友，我一直纳闷我挺淑女的一人，[恩，是挺淑女的曾把一人的棒棒糖吓掉拉，仅此而已]咋会和你成了朋友。我们就开始了新生活，上演现实平民般的野蛮女友，呵呵，没错，就是本人，长的挺欺骗大众的，看者绝对的好孩子，不过，偶尔，我也会很温柔，可你居然觉得我不正常，汗，我果然不适合走淑女路线啊。我的就是以欺负你为乐……
最快乐的时光是我们做同桌时，上课不想听课了就吃东西，累了就趴桌子上睡，尽管在第一排，还是很放肆，当然我们也有我们的理想，我们都想去南方有水的小城，共同的理想是浙江，哦， 以我的成绩那是遥远的一个梦，可还是执着，呵呵，我都有点不懂自己了，不过那是我们共同的理想，加油，努力。
记得最好玩的事就是，你特别喜欢在路上放声大笑，每次频频引来路人诧异的眼光，我就会特无辜的看着，意思是不是我啊，呵呵，然后回去我就会暴力的解决，可是你连改都不带改的，最后我只能无奈的看着你，然后每次走路离你远点，呵呵，我不认识你哦，可你特别可爱的冲我大声叫：亲爱的，恩，我败了，我汗死了，这下所有人都知道我们认识拉，就这样我跟淑女挂不上边了，恩，救命啊……
可是我们也有特别和谐的时候，当你受欺负的时候，因为我当时没有陪在你身边保护你而难过的哭，你会因为友人欺负我咬牙切齿，恩，我们就是这么一群爱护彼此，不想对方受一点伤害的傻孩子，就像《梦里花落知多少》中的林岚，闻婧那么怜惜对方，呵呵……
偶尔我们也有我们的小伤感，可是我们总是把它溺死在食物中，信仰吃不是万能的，没有吃是万万不能的。
呵呵，好特别啊。
我们还说每天抱一次，我想这样我们在分别之后又会有许多美好的回忆了吧，以前的朋友都没有这样，所以心中有小小的遗憾，不过我会好好的珍惜现在的生活，遗忘让人坚强，忘记悲伤，相信快乐，珍惜现在。
不知不觉，我在高中就有了这么多美好的回忆了啊……恩，不管有多累，我都会坚强的走下去，就像林岚说路的尽头有顾小北等我，我说我知道路的尽头，有你们在等我，那让我勇敢，不再逃避……

一封信写完了，突然又想起遗漏的事情，这时用p.s.表示，再写上遗漏的话即可，要长话短说。通常在信末签名下面几行的左方，应于正文齐头。

近来英国商业书信信内地址并未依次缩进，似乎与美国式相同。此外，在美国还流行一种普通收信人地址的写法，就是在书信的Inside Address中，把门牌号和街名都省略掉。在英文书信中要使用敬语，最普遍的敬语是Mr, Mrs和Miss（用于未婚女性）。英国人常在男性的姓名之后用Esq. （Esquire的缩写），不过在商业上也在慢慢地改用Mr. Mmes.（Madam的复数形式），用于二个女士以上。Messrs（Mr的复数形式）用于二个以上的男人，或用于二个以上的男人组成的公司或团体。在英国式英文信里，Mr, Mrs, Messrs，均不加缩写句点，相反地趋向于进步自由的美语反而加缩写句点如Mr., Mrs., Messrs.。在称呼方面，商业上最普遍的有Gentlemen（美国式）与Dear Sirs（英国式）二种，相当于我国的“敬启者”或“谨启者”。
典型的美国式书写法。
给公司单位写信时美语用Gentlemen（复数形式），英语用Dear Sirs。如果对方公司只一人时，必须使用Sir/Dear Sir。称呼后一般要使用标点符号，英国式采用逗号（comma），美国式用分号（colon）。书信结尾客套语（complimentary close）有多种，相当于我国书信在结尾时使用的“敬礼”、“致敬”、“顺安”等句。最为典型的美国式写法是Sincerely和Best regards，典型的英国式表达有Yours sincerely（熟人或知道对方姓名），Best wishes, kind regards 和yours faithfully（不知姓名）。此外，英国式的客套语还有特别礼貌的格式，但除了特殊情况外，现在不再使用。
