从应试教育转化成为素质教育，已成为当前教育观念的一大转变。应怎样使这一转变经久地持续下去而在教育教学实践中结出更丰硕的果实，这是一个需要长期探讨的问题。素质教育贯穿在所有的教育过程。而德、智、体、美、劳五育之中，审美教育的渗透力蛙强，它直接或间接地参与在其它四育之中，影响且规定着其它四育及其功效。
那么，素质教育与美育是否有一定的联系呢？我们应该从美育这一命题出发，去探讨一下其中的关系。美育有狭义与广义两种说法。我国著名美学家李泽厚先生认为：狭义的美育主要是指艺术教育。而广义的美育是指一个人在人生境界中所达到的最高水准，也就是关系到每个人怎样去追求和建立自己的人生观，不仅追求灵魂的完美，而且是超过这种完美的“天人合一”。
由此我们可以认识到：美育不仅是一种审美能力的培养，而且是人们思想情感、个体意识的再造。这一美育观的重新明确，高度地评价了美育的地位与作用，把美育从一般的、泛泛的德智体美劳五育并提的层面中超拔出来，凸现出来，构成了一个宏观的图景，在这个图景中，我们可以看到素质教育所折射出的明晰的影了。从论域范围看，素质是人们特有的综合能力，是社会物质活动能力的开发和培养，因此，素质教育自然是一种社会化的物质活动。
根据辩证唯物主义的观点，素质教育是审美教育（美育）的物质基础，没有一定的素质教育就谈不上美育；而美育反作用于素质教育。这种关系决定着素质教育只有和生动活泼的美育有机结合起来，才能培养出完美的个性、高尚的人格，再加上德、智、体、劳教育，我们才会培养一大批社会主义的有用人才，我们的教育才能达到最高的目标。从亚里士多德的《诗学》到中国儒家的《乐记》、《礼记》，古代的先哲们早就注意到了美育在素质教育中的作用。“诗”“乐”的陶冶情性、塑造人格的特殊作用，是孔子教育思想的又一独出的建树。
然而，由于科学对教育的异化和当代“左”的教育思潮的影响。这一教育观念并没有健康地递传下去。目前，素质教育与美育脱节的根本症结在于：我们的一些同志还没有真正地理解美育的广大而又丰富的内涵，只限于对美育狭义的理解，把美育等同于艺术教育；再者，没有充分地认识到素质教育与美育以及各种能力培养的联系，我们要深入地进行全面的素质教育，就必须把美育贯穿在其中。
要想在教育实践中切实地把素质教育摆在首位，美育，是一个极好的切入口；重视审美教育的独特功能，可以把目前正在实施的素质教育改革向更深更广的层面......

其实这个英语课程也挺不错的，每天上午40分钟的电脑学习和40分钟的教师拓展。我个人认为，这个方法非常好，第一节课摆脱了教师的整体知道，自己根据自己的漏洞来学习；而第二节课则是阅读理解拓展，正好也是我的漏洞，所以这380元花得值。最令我难忘的则是第一天，并不是因为电脑的事。 在上敏特英语的第一天，我起晚了，7：15才起的床，我以最快的速度洗漱完毕，穿好衣服，以豹子舨的速度飞奔向学校。虽然速度快，可还是迟到了，晚了5分钟。我想到学校的老师基本上都很严厉，迟到一会就会“没命了”，我不由得紧张起来，我只听到咚咚的声音，原来是我的心脏跳动的声音。我不由得放慢了脚步，反正已经迟到了，早受罪不如晚受罪。我走到机房门口轻轻地敲了一下门，我只见到一位和蔼可亲的'老师，她对我说：“今天迟到了，下回不要这样了，去开机吧。”我没想到我竟然奇迹般的躲过了一劫。我打开了电脑，班长坐在我旁边，他笑呵呵地对我说：“咱们真够幸运的，遇上了和蔼的老师，否则你就……”电脑打开了，我认真地学习初三的英语单词，不知不觉中，35分钟过去了。 第二节课我也必须要提一下。进入了第二节课，老师发给了我们一张卷子，让我们先做，这里面的题对于我来说不算太难，但依然有难题。尤其是完型填空，最让我头疼。这位老师在学生中漫步，看到了我就剩一道题，她面带微笑地对我说：“又遇到难题了？自己仔细想想，你肯定能想出来。”我同时似乎吃了信心丸，努力想，终于在老师讲题之前想出来了。
