那棵树上开了一朵花，红色的，在深绿的枝叶显得格外触目。我有些惊喜，这确乎是我第一次见得树开花。
这棵树长在旅馆花园的角落里，向后便是一片陡坡。花园后是些山丘，高矮不齐地立着。似乎是刚下过雨，天上积了云，灰沉着一片。
我的目光被牢牢吸引在这树上——它其实很小，也没有甚么叶子。倘若不是那鲜明的红色，恐怕我便注意不到它了。突然奇想，给那棵树取一个取一个名字，记得方便，也好向同伴炫耀，虽然这树有它原来自身的品种和名字。
那么取什么呢？我思索。按我平时的习惯，却不会给一棵瘦弱的树想什么名字。但是我无法质疑那一点红的惊艳美感——便唤作“一点红”？我差点自个儿扑哧一声笑出。这名字恰似给什么动物取得名儿。况且“一点红”便只是红在花，与那树没有什么关联。
这时吹过一阵凉风，我打了一个喷嚏，那花也自摇了摇，像是要落了似的。我想到“落红树”这个名字，却又觉得俗了，像是不论哪棵会开花的树都能这般叫唤。
我围着这树儿四下踱着，空气中隐约有着那种树木的的特有气味。我忽然脚一滑，险些跌了一跤。我惊魂未定地看着那树后的陡坡，似乎那红花是在警示你停下脚步。那么叫做“红后坡”？不行，像是给那坡取的名字了。
我忽然有些奇怪了，无论是遇到了什么风景什么实物，我与那树的名字都离不开那“红”字。因为那红太醒目，在一片灰绿的调子中蹦出的暖色，像是一朵小小的火花。无论那坡也好，树后的山也罢，都不如那“红”。我有点想装糊涂一把，不再思索甚么文艺的名目，直接叫”红树”便了。或许那“红”明日便落了，又或许明日树上开满了“红”。我宁愿相信后者，这“红”毫无疑问是美丽的，令我珍惜的。若叫“红树”，也算是对于它的一种憧憬与希望吧。
天色暗了，没有太阳。我想我今天又干了一件蠢事，异想天开的要给一棵树取名字。我再看着那棵树，第一眼还是只见到它的“红”，怕是到了夜晚，也会这么鲜艳明亮吧？这“红树”的名儿倒也应该是没有取错。
