徐州有“百里煤海”之称，煤炭探明储量36亿吨，远景储量69亿吨。有120余年的煤炭开采历史，年产量达到1500万吨以上，是江苏及华东地区主要的煤炭生产基地。贾汪又是徐州主要的产煤县区之一，整个地下都埋藏了或厚或薄的煤层，记忆中的家乡煤矿林立，最多时仅我们一个镇就有23座。2001年7月22日，贾汪的岗子村五副井发生了特大瓦斯煤尘爆炸事故，造成92名(官方数字，其实是130几人矿工死亡，至此人们才认识到小煤矿的严重安全问题，领导也迅速做出了关闭小煤矿的决定。在小煤矿关闭后短短的几年中地面严重塌陷，一片荒凉，长期得不到治理的塌陷地积水成滩，湿地由此诞生。
好在前几年新来的丁书记做出了“打造贾汪山水城市”的战略性决策，提出三年再建一个新贾汪的大胆构想，大力投资土地复垦、塌陷地改造、美化绿化荒山荒地工程，在这个战略性决策中，小南湖休闲广场、大洞山榴园仙境、督公湖休闲度假村、卧龙泉生态旅游观光园、潘安湖高尔夫球场、十里花溪、临城河休闲大道等等工程相继开工，为贾汪百姓创造了一个又一个美丽的休闲娱乐之地。休息日或下班后的傍晚，携一家老小闲来逛逛很是惬意。

Sometimes I dream about life in the future. What will it be?
Perhaps some people will go to the moon for a holiday or even live on the moon,and some scientists will build cities under the sea to make people live there. We can have a medical examination or do some shopping without leaving our homes,which makes the life more convenient. Maybe we will also do some shopping and work at home.
And I'm sure there'll be more educational programmes on the radio or TV or by the Intemet or videophones,so perhaps some children won't need to go to school every day. They'll study at home.
In the future,all electric equipment at home is under the con-trol of computers. People can learn about the situation of the house by working on the computer at the office. No people like doing housework. Maybe each family will have a robot. Every day we can tell the robot what to do-shopping,housework and so on. believe the dream will come true some day.

督公湖位于贾汪区世纪东路，距贾汪城区约10公里，督公山南麓，是由徐州旺佳农林牧生态科技开发有限公司投资6000万元开发的旅游度假村。拟用现有的大型人工水库，人造湖、人工岛，广阔滩涂等景观，开辟人造天然浴场、山、湖、岛旅游区，已建成野味餐馆，正在建设大型水族馆、垂钓区、水产品发展区、游乐场、农家陈列馆、跑马场、服务中心等项目。
督公湖库区水面达100公顷，可浇灌面积达2万亩，解决1.5万人饮水，保证下游3万人及阚山电厂等大型企业的防洪安全，每年直接经济效益400余万元。更重要的是，湖中还有鱼类20余种，白鹭、大雁、野鸭等近万只，有效地改善了该地区的生态环境，提高了当地居民的生活质量。
明朝万历年间都察院右金都御使贾三近因其为官清正、刚正不阿被朝野上下称之为“都公”，在其告老还乡之后云游至此，发现此地群山绿树，碧波荡漾，叹曰：真乃神仙境也!竟爱不愿归，隐居于此，并取名“石屋居人”，从此潜心写书，以古讽今，写成旷古绝今的《金瓶梅》，因此此山起名为都公山，湖取名为都公湖，后来因年代久远后人以音传习为督公山、督公湖。
督公湖景色宜人，远山如黛，倒映水中;茂林郁郁，水木含情;白鹭翩翩，诗意盎然;沙滩漫步，惬意无限;鱼馆畅饮，陶醉其间，使人心旷神怡，这里的传说更加神奇，令人神往……
朱元璋和马皇后破庙成亲，天赐浴盆石，患难夫妻喜成亲;玉兔下凡望穿双眼化为泉，演绎爱情浪漫经典;赤脚大仙蓝采和掷靴为桥，普度众生美名传……湖因传说而神奇，传说因湖更迷人。
