屎壳郎，学名蜣螂，是一种常见的爬行昆虫，有六条腿，两条触角，硬硬的背壳，头部呈勺状，可以把动物的粪便变成球形，然后推滚到合适的地方贮藏起来，因此又被称为“推屎爬”。
屎壳郎头前的触角仿佛两只钳子，十分有力。
与别的昆虫对战时，它只要伸出两只“钳子”，对手就会被它的气势威吓住了，即使比它更强大的对手也会对它望而生畏。
如果对手攻击它身体，它也不怕，因为它有坚硬的铠甲（背上的硬壳）做防护，就仿佛一个身披宝石铠甲的勇士，无惧无畏，威风凛凛。
世界上约有两万种屎壳郎，中国约有八千种。
大部分屎壳郎会挖地道把粪便运走，在中国，滚粪球的屎壳郎只有五百种。
